
The downpipes feature a cast bellmouth with a machined V-band flange for an OEM-like fitment. The castings include a dimple for water line clearance - this ensures easy fitment. Castings allow for a smooth transition and tight radius turns - otherwise complex cutting and welding would need to take place which is neither cost effective or reliable in the long term.
The castings transition from the OEM turbo outlet to 2.5" piping. We had explored doing 3" piping with the redesign - as has been popular with the N54 community - but physics dictates that air or, in this case, exhaust gas, will move as efficiently as the smallest pipe diameter will allow. Since the OEM cat-back exhaust is roughly 2.36" and aftermarket exhaust systems are 2.5" - a neck-down to 2.5" will be necessary for fitment regardless - which would, in turn, render any 3" piping prior to the reduction useless. This also goes a long way to keep the design functional, elegant and cost effective.
The system is full 304 Stainless Steel piping with stainless castings and stainless laser cut flanges. TIG welded to perfection and quality. Piping is mandrel bent for smooth flow.
