• Audi updates their R8 racecar with the R8 LMS Ultra for 2012

      The R8 LMS Ultra is the successor to the R8 LMS GT3. The GT3 has won 115 races so it is not exactly an easy act to follow. The Ultra features CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) doors for weight savings. The exhaust system for the 5.2 V10 has been revised for more power. The oil cooler has been relocated and improved upon. The chassis was slightly reworked to fit larger and wider wheels. In addition to all this the aerodynamics have been changed to increase downforce.

      "We’re convinced that the Audi R8 LMS ultra will continue the successes of its predecessor, with over 40 customer sport vehicles delivered, the first generation of the R8 LMS was already a sporting and commercial success," stated Romolo Liebchen, head of Customer Sport at quattro GmbH.
