• BMW 1M underrated and offering M3 power - First dyno's reveal 1M puts down 346 wheel horsepower with intake

      It is nice to see BMW at least gave the 1M a little more in the tune over a standard N54. They obviously could have put out much more if they wanted to. 346 wheel horsepower in STD correction is pretty darn good for with an intake. That is basically M3 power right there. The car is rated at 335 crank so when a vehicle is putting out more to the wheels than it is rated at the motor that is definitely what we call underrated. This leads us to believe the reason the 1M did not get the DCT transmission is it would have stepped all over the M3's toes.

        Very impressive indeed. That's way too underrated. I wonder what other stock 1M's dyno at.

        As I suspected before, fbo + meth and the weight loss over the 135 and this car is a ver low 11s car.

        I wonder if it shares the standard turbos of an x35 n54. It would be cool if it was like a gx50 optioned 996 with slightly bigger snails. Perhaps it could handle more boost?

        Yes, same turbos. They SHOULD HAVE given it bigger turbos so it would be like an X50 but BMW found out they could just give you the same crap, change software, and charge more.

        I understood the 1m saves 200lbs in weight against a 135. It also has an LSD.

        Well there goes that theory. Then you are right, its a dressed up 135 with an LSD. Now I am officially disappointed.

        The car does have a modified engine in comparison to the 135i which is partially why the car dyno's higher stock. Matt had mentioned this in his post as well.

        According to Insideline/Edmunds.com, when they dyno'ed their 1M, it resulted in 331/362.

        What is modified about it though? Even if things are modified or the car was lighter, or it came factory with an lsd, you could still just buy a 135 and do all that stuff to it on your own.

        I wouldnt be so sure just yet.

        Sure I would have liked it with the S65 underneath the hood, but if it indeed comes with an Alpina built engine, then BMW has played a trump card on all of us by keeping this quiet til the very end. If it was a regular run of the mill N54 then I wouldnt care less what this car can do. A built engine, even if it is a turbo one, in my eyes makes it all the better.

        When driving it with the flash, it is pretty retarded how hard it pulls, not to mention how damn smooth as well....I cant knock Terry for all hes done for us (and me as well), but its a bit of a far cry from a piggy. Sure I might not have all the bells and whistles, but we arent going soup to nuts with this car, and no meth.

        Also Sticky, you need to mention in the original post that it has an Injen Intake already on it. I mentioned this in one of my previous posts, just put it up there to clarify so people dont go buckwild.

        Most did dyno around this number, we figure ours was the same stock, but the intake increased the numbers a bit.
