      M275 V12 twin turbo production for the Mercedes SL has ended. That makes us very, very sad pandas. The SL600 is the first to go followed by the SL65 AMG. The Black Series will likely be sold for a little while longer but at its price point they are not exactly flying off lots. Will the V12 re-appear in the next generation SL? We do not know, but with the M157 and M278 twin turbo V8's the demand for a twin turbo V12 will not likely be there. These are newer motors with better emissions that are also lighter. We will have to wait and see but this may be the beginning of the end for the M275.

        I hope its lighter, this thing is more than 4000 lbs...

        The move makes sense being they are both performance (SL straightline only vs SLS no question) convertibles over 200K, the markets would overlap.

        I'm sure we'll see the M275 phased out soon enough, it's an old school design, 3v PFI (heads and intake actually suck) and not very efficient especially compared to the M157s as Joe pointed out.

        That said I would hang onto them if you own one because I'm not sure we'll ever see 1000lb/ft from a M157 and no one's really tapped a M275 yet. One of the last TT "large" displacement V12s we'll ever see. So sad...

        Rags have the SLS vert at 3850-3900lbs. Gorgeous cars.
