      The i3 does not exactly get us excited as enthusiasts. The i8 on the other hand is supposed to be the exciting and fun to drive BMW 'i' car. Power to the front wheels will be from a modified i3 electric motor. The rear wheels will get power from a direct injected 1.5 liter likely turbocharged motor. The electric and internal combustion motors combined should be good for 350 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque in AWD mode which should provide sub 5 second 0-60 times.

      The car can be used in full electric mode in FWD for about 20 miles. The car will likely also be able to just use rear wheel drive as well with just the 1.5 liter motor. It should be fairly quick with a curb weight under 3300 pounds.

      So this is the new green, sporty side of BMW. This car has potential and to be honest we look forward to seeing these cars tuned. The 1.5 liter turbo motor combined with some tweaks to the electric motor as well should make for a very interesting yet eco-friendly platform. Unlike the i3, this may be something for performance enthusiasts to get excited about. Just don't expect to see this thing putting out huge horsepower numbers.

        An M version would be great but they don't seem to be aiming for all out performance. If they were, this would have a twin turbo V8. Who knows if one will even fit.

        Honestly I don't give a flying sh*t about the i8 or i3.

        I don't even have the slightest bit of interest to even read one word of the marketing they have released.

        I felt pretty much the same way. Don't really care for BMW's green $#@!.

        However, the i8 does have my interest a bit. It has potential and I think it definitely could be an interesting platform to tune and play with.

        The i3 is not working visually for me and not my type of car. Hope it sells well for BMW. But the i8 with the gas engine sounds very interesting and if looks like anything even close to this I am in! And to be able to "tweak" it's performance is even better.         I wish I could say that I have a informant at the "Mothership" in Germany but I can't lie. I had hese renderings over a year ago. I don't recall who did them but I thought as I still do today this car is bad as hell with it's looks and proportions. If they put the N55 that would be OK I guess, or better yet I would look for a twin-turbo direct injection V8 (a even more tweaked N63) for the M version. Yep an M version gentleman. And pushing a number of horsepower that is requisite for a car of this caliber. Now I am about to hit you Sticky with the same car in Hellrot!! If they make a roadster of this I will be out of my mind to get one.

        These renderings are right around a year old or so.When I saw the "dontblogaboutthis.com" it was strange to me. When the Vision Concept was unveiled I deemed it cool and thought about BMW in future sense. And then came the i8 confirmation, which then I thought the more relevant the old rendering became. The i8 is one model, but then I do not know what the gas engine car is referred to in the current and upcoming BMW nomenclature.Is it an 8 and part of a line above the i lineup? Is BMW going to bring back the 8 Series with this car in gas engine form? They will build an M and my educated guess is it will be an M8. All will be revealed in due time I guess, right? Anyway I love the renderings.

        Nope, this is just an i8 part of a new i series. Although in a way it kind of feels like an 8 successor almost and has some similarities. Maybe they will just use the hybrid version for the 'i' line and then launch a regular 8 series model based on it with a gasoline turbo motor and no electric junk? You may be on to something.

        So let's say the we know i brand which slated below the standard BMW, they bring back the 8 Series for the standard lineup like I stated above. Use that car as launching point for technologies that trickle down to the rest of the lines. Interesting it will be. And if they flesh out the line with s roadster and an M8 in coupe and roadster will be cool.

        That would be cool and I'm all for them using this design for a new 8 series and M8 with real motors that run off hippie tears.

        It will have a gas engine looks like but I know what you mean. I want one with just a gas engine... a big one.
