      The new F12/F13 6 series will get a 640i variant in the USA powered by the N55 3.0 liter direct injected single turbo 6 cylinder with VALVETRONIC. With the previous generation (E63) BMW felt putting the 6 cylinder in the car in the USA would take the car too far down market. With Americans starting to embrace fuel efficiency and the torque the turbo motor offers, the 640i is no longer seen as much of a downgrade. In Europe, the previous generation 6 series was available with the 3.0 liter N52 naturally aspirated 6 cylinder as well as a 6 cylinder diesel. We doubt any diesel variant will make its way over as BMW still thinks Americans do not want diesels.

        New 6-series is overpriced. With options you will be paying $80k for a very heavy N55 coupe.

        Autoblog was killing the new 6-series styling in their "First Drive" article.

        One of the quotes from the article:
        ... the first thing we have to talk about with this third generation 6 Series is its face, which is one only a mother could love. Start walking around to the front, and that honker just lands like poop on a princess.

        I don't take Autoblog's opinions on anything automotive all too seriously. They just serve as a quick news reference with it all in one spot.

        I like the way how 6-series looks, maybe the front is a bit soft but it's a good looking car.

        It seems it's a good thing to talk trash about BMW cars look, it seems it's kind of cool. Everyone comes and says that Bimmer is ugly, hideous etc...

        When Bangle was the chief designer people said cars are really ugly, they are too aggressive. now BMW switched to soft design, people say a Hyundai is more stylish and such.

        Pretty stupid situation.

        It is stupid. Bangle took BMW kicking and screaming into the future. What is really funny is that his designs outsold all previous designs, easily.

        The guy did the E46 as well which is, well, brilliant.

        The new designs don't have the impact Bangles did. Although I hated his big butt designs (he always screwed up the rear end) the front was usually done well.

        The new stuff is just mild and safe, but it works.

        Except they are correct. The front is ugly, especially the headlights. I laugh when fanboys say it is beautiful. An Aston Martin is beautiful, the new 6-series not so much.

        It's a matter of opinion. I find the F12 more appealing than the previous gen.

        This. I never had a spot for the E63 platform. For some reason it always struck me as a car that has me saying 'why did bmw make this car?'
        The only people that drive them in my neck of the woods are ginnys, drug dealers and wannabe thugs. They rock the ugliest colors with 22" wheels.

        Same here... I was going to class after work and I see this M6 parking, so I pull up behind it. Nothing against big people, but this overweight woman gets out of the car and walks away. I get out and look at the car and it has these hideous looking 22" rims, and it's an M6... I'm like Why?!? Why does she need an M6, she'll never use it's full potential... Why put 22" rims on it... Why the Puke worthy color options (looked puke orange). Some people don't need to own BMW's because they make them look like $#@!

        She bought the M6 because it was the most expensive 6 series and could fit big rims.
