Car and Driver let some details slip and now everyone is reporting the 991 specs. The car will grow 2.5 inches longer with a 4.5 inch longer wheelbase. 2 7-speed transmissions will be available, the
7 gear manual as previously reported and a PDK. Both will have launch control programs. The Carrera S will have 20's as standard equipment. The 911 will have 350 horsepower and share its motor with the Boxster.
The car will be an impressive 55 pounds lighter than the outgoing 997. Not only will the power grow but the weight will drop despite an increase in size. The interior is basically all taken from the Panamera and new Cayenne which is fine as those interiors are beautiful. The only concern is all the Porsche interiors will blend together.
Early 991 ring times for the S are reported as 7:50 which will no doubt drop. A rumored 7:37 ring time was hit with a non-production based setup. What changes were done to it? Porsche won't say.
