      All the 1M reviews up to this point may as well have been one long review blended together. Few in the automotive press have stood up and actually had the courage to criticize the 1M or look at it from a different perspective. That is, until now. This Insideline comparison will no doubt get fanboys panties twisted especially with comments such as these,

      "The 2011 BMW M Coupe? It starts, runs, accelerates and idles like a vacuum. Sure, it's an expensive, exacting vacuum built by a team of engineers who fully understand sucking. And in the end it's a masterful machine carefully calibrated for sucking precision. But it's so focused on sucking that it's virtually emotionless. Even its burnouts are antiseptic."

      Whoa, the huevos on Insideline! We didn't know they had it in them. Finally somebody who has the courage to stand up and honestly opine about the 1M instead of being a sheep. Insideline would go on to say the 1M is basically a 135 in disguise, ""Nah. Unless you drive it hard on the right road it's no different than a 135."

        IL reviewers hate BMW's, that's a fact. And with this article they showed they are capable of giving BULL$#@! another definition.

        Mmm, no fuel consumption figures stated. Why should that be missing in the stats?
        Maybe Dodge does not have to comply to the new European fuel reduction percentages European cars have to.
        Sure, it's as fast in a straight line. But where's the fun in that?

        They explained it. It's fun at all speeds whereas the 1M needs to be driven toward the limit to be exciting. They make an interesting point..

        Not true for european car manufacturers.
        Why do you think Aston Martin, and even Lotus now, comes with a stupid little towncar.
        It is to suppress overall CO2 figures. They are obliged to reduce CO2 emissions before 2015, and even stricter rules apply for 2018.
        Maybe the Charger is fun at all speeds because f its deathtrappyness, whereas the 1M makes driving very easy...

        That is what makes the comparison so awesome.

        They are both about $50k though so price was it makes sense. They also are both performance cars with 4 seats, front engine, manual, and rear wheel drive.

        Pretty cool comparison rather than the typical junk.

        I don't think that could be said, the M3 other than the body is completely different from the 335i. You can't get a V8 for the 335i, but you get a N54 in both the 1M and 135i.

        I disagree. 1M has a whole new suspension, new brakes, new steering etc... and it deserves to have a different name.

        Swapping engines isn't as hard as changing the suspension due the different wheel aches and lack of space. there are some V8 1-series out there, but have you seen a 1-Series with a new suspension system?

        Yeah but for the M3 they designed it's parts from the ground up, with the 1M, they just tuned up the engine, slapped on the M3 brakes, and added the rear suspension of the M3.

        Let's just agree to disagree on what the 1M is. Sticky has already been driven mad by the 1M discussion so far, we should give him a breakClick here to enlarge

        Couldn't the same be said about the M3? I'm sure it's not too exciting putting around town at 3000 RPMs.

        Its a Challenger, not charger.

        I was looking at a Charger SRT8 and a 335 when I got tired of my last car. Not that the srt8 isn't bad, but seemed more like a high school kid's "see how loud my car is" type. The ease of a tune/meth mod over the Kenne Bell is what swayed me.

        Right, BMW is 5MPH faster in slalom and these idiots who assumably drive straight only get the boat as a winner...probably based on its noise which these kids think is positive rather than disturbing.

        Have you guys driven one? They aren't fast.... just like the 1M in a straight line. They are boring as well, like a big boat.

        A C5 z06 is even much better than that....... Wow, I've never seen a fairly large, lazy V8 stuffed in a front-heavy chassis before..... Click here to enlarge


        Sure, go ahead and buy one if you want to get raped at autocross or any track. And I prefer the sound of an opened up boosted I-6 over that gargley, low-revving Hemi.

        Obviously you can make a lot of power with the Challenger. But trust me, I've driven one of those stock 6MT, and also a G8 GXP to compare, and they just feel like fat, slower versions of a Corvette.....

        Even the new 5.0 didn't impress me like the 135i.... not sure why everyone makes a big deal about them.....


        When we dive into the aftermarket it can go so many different ways..... so let's not argue about that.


        But hey, whatever, it's their opinion, I'd take a 1M or even a 135i over a Challenger SRT-8 any day.
