      The design of the new F20 1 series is controversial, to say the least. BMW has made plenty of controversial styling decisions over the past decade so I suppose we should not be surprised. However, what is interesting with this car is that an amateur designer released his view of a facelift to improve the car and it's amazing how much these small changes improve the look. Take a look at the before and after photos here and wonder why the BMW designers did not take the same direction.

        because BMW designers are blind.
        i admit the facelifted car looks miles better than the original.

        it's much better than original.

        but i prefer the original because
        more ugly cars => lower sale number => less profit for BMW => maybe a policy change => more real BMW cars

        they should still steal designers from Audi or maybe grab Ian Callum from Tata Motors/Jaguar if they want to save BMWs looks

        Incorrect. Both the 1 series and the 2 series are Rear Wheel Drive

        So whats the difference? The 1 series will be that goofy looking hatch and the 2 series will be the coupe?

        The true successor will be the 2 series but the 1 series is not FWD. The new Mini platform may be based on it which will be FWD. The FWD BMW will likely mimic that Mini platform.
