      We are skeptical of the i8, no doubt about it. Make that petrified of the entire BMW "i" brand and the impact it will have on BMW performance. The newest i8 commercial from BMW has us thinking the news might not be all bad. BMW puts forth some very bold claims including 0-60 in 4.8 seconds along with 62 MPG (3.8 liters per 100 km). Check out the commercial below which makes the i8 looks very appealing and for those wondering this is what they were filming when the car was spotted in Abu Dhabi back in January.

        I always said as long as the I brand is innovative and ground breaking it will do fine as a BMW.

        I wonder if they will be able to keep the production version close to this.

        I like it, just want more performance for a BMW halo car.

        It probably weighs 4000 lbs and has 1000 lbs of batteries, is greatly underpowered and is geared for 0-100 mph. I bet it tops out at 120 like a tesla and can only accelerate below 60. So, IMO this isnt a true supercar. More pipedreams plz.

        It ain't a supercar of course, maybe a superdull.
        It will really suck if they don't put a real engine in it, that aggressive body deserves more.

        Would it kill them to make a version that isn't a hybrid?

        It will cause the president of the hybrid division to have an anyuerism and keel over and $#@!ting all the lettuce he ate for breakfast that morning.
