      As promised in the previous update on the DCT build, we are bringing you details on the cooling system. What you see here is the SSP billet pan and this has been the major hold-up in the completion of the cooling system having undergone multiple designs. What this pan offers is an additional 2 liters of fluid capacity, cooling fins to dissipate heat, additional cooling through an external source, and better access for fluid changes.

      With more material on the bottom as well as cooling fins this will act as a giant heat sink of sorts similar to the cooling system upgrades SSP offers for the GTR. One of the main obstacles for the DCT is heat build up and the idea is to get as much fluid out as quickly as possible. Even if the hardware is upgraded if you can not cool it is just a waste as it will be burned up just as easily as the stock hardware.

      The pan will be able to connect to an external upgraded cooling source where the additional fluid can be pumped to. It will also offer easier access to change the DCT fluid when necessary. This billet pan forms the major portion of the cooling system upgrade which will retail for somewhere in between $2300-$3000 and will be compatible with all current BMW DCT transmission.

        If it is I would definitely go. I don't know at this point. Car is supposed to be back at Gintani at the end of this month.

        Once mine is completed they will start production. As soon as the cooling package is available I will let you and everyone else know.

        I forgot to add, SSP produced some new 1000+ torque capacity clutch discs for the GTR. Since my trans is still there I will be upgraded to this even higher capacity discs. So, a good thing to come out of the long wait.

        Last week we brought you the initial pictures of the build process for the DCT oil pan. You saw one side of the pan and some users asked about seeing the other side. Well, here are the final machining photos revealing the completed pan. As you can see, there are fairly deep fins cut into it for cooling as well as a custom M logo specifically for the BimmerBoost M3. Hey, that's how we roll.

        No, the motor will need to be installed and Gintani and I will need to figure out what SC setup to go with. I would be lying if I were to say I'm not concerned about the built motor SC as there still seem to be issues to work out and we were thinking of getting pretty crazy with my setup.

        I'm hoping by the time the car is back we will be ready to rock. I am thinking I will go with a big boost YSI, it will make the most sense but there is no proper running YSI setup yet. I really want that blower though...

        excuse my ignorance but whats so special about a ysi as reguards the normal vortech blowers?
        i no everyone loves turbo setups but honestly to me a properly setup centrifugal just rocks, i love that fact we keep that ///M throttle response.
        Man i drove a z06 with a vortech setup and HOLY $#@!........... power EVERYWHERE in the rev range, truely awesome thing to drive.
