      MotorTrend seems to have a thing for for BMW diesels namely the 535d they recently drove. And why not? Great car, good power, nice mileage, the all around package. Calling it BMW's best 6 though? We do not agree. They are basing this on the N55 6 cylinder not being smooth to drive vs. the diesel which maybe the problem is them. It isn't BMW's best 6, it isn't better than the N54 or N55, but it certainly is a nice motor worthy of respect.

        well i tried this engine on a different car , it was a X6 4.0d .it was quite good actually , never tried N55 but N57 feels better than the N54 in 7-series.

        well it's not that good , if they could do something to make it a happy engine, then yes it's the best.(i know i'm asking too much)
        but still diesel engines are located in the beginning of their way , long way to go .

        That's not true at all. BMW has been building diesel engines in Europe for some time now. If you're talking from a US perspective, then you're right.

        It's just lame though, the diesel lineup in the US is a shadow of what it should or could be.

        At least they doubled it up. Now that the US population has gotten its head out of its ass, maybe we'll see a lot more instead of just a little more.

        OT , went for a quick spin today. it was a 123d , and man that engine is so lovely. never tried something like that!
        i think that engine is available in U.S?isn't it?
