Mercedes seems to be quite serious about expanding its all wheel drive offerings on all their vehicles. Just recently we announced that the AMG models would be more widely adopting 4Matic and Mercedes intends to put it on entry level cars as well. The 2012 C350 coupe will have optional all wheel drive and we expect it to make it to the sedan as well. Some Mercedes cars are 4Matic only already such as the E550 and CL550. ...Published on 12-09-2011 11:05 PM
The 993 is still argued for today as possibly the greatest 911 generation ever produced. Hard to disagree when you consider it had the last air cooled motor and classic Porsche lines that seem timeless. The GT2 possibly being the greatest example. Porsche fans would seem to agree as they requested on Porsche's facebook page to hear what the motor in the 993 GT2 sounds like. Porsche obliged and provided this awesome video below highlighting the motor sounds, check it out. ...Published on 12-09-2011 10:42 PM
Walter de Silva let it slip in an interview with Automotive News Europe that the Audi Q6 is in fact coming, "We will definitely launch a sportier crossover in between the Q7 and Q5." No timetable for when it will come to market was mentioned. This model will be a key piece in Audi's goal of taking the overall sales lead from BMW. Silva went on to say they also plan to challenge the future BMW X4 with a sportier model based on the Q5 which would likely be called a Q4. ...Published on 12-08-2011 09:33 PM
We have completed our rapid prototype testing and are happy to report that we will be sending our HPF N54 intake manifold off to production next week with an expected genearl release date of May 2012. This new manifold allows everyone to run a secondary fuel system in conjunction with the N54 direct injection or turn the direct injection off and just run a standard fuel system. We will be selling the fuel rails and injectors that fit with our rail but anyone can source their own if they so desire. ...Published on 12-08-2011 06:43 AM
This is not a joke although we wish it was. This "modified" (more like destroyed) Mercedes SLR belongs to Swiss entrepreneur Ueli Anliker who is selling it for a cool $11 million dollars. Nope, no typo. 30,000 hours of work were apparently put into this SLR that features 24 carat gold accents and 600 rubies. The vehicle will be brought to the Middle East next month which is the only place on the planet someone might have bad enough taste combined with deep enough pockets to buy this. Ronald McDonald apparently is not on the potential client list even though this SLR would fit his color scheme perfectly. Our advice? Get a stock SLR if you are in the market and keep the change. ...Published on 12-08-2011 06:12 AM
Vorsteiner has released their aero kit for the E70 X5M. Just like with the X6M, the pieces compliment the car well and are not overdone. The complete kit includes a vented hood, diffuser and add-on front lip. The parts are made out of autoclaved pre-preg carbon fiber and they simply look great. Pricing is yet to be announced, check out the official Vorsteiner X5M site here: http://www.vorsteiner.com/x5m/ ...Published on 12-07-2011 11:01 PM

Mercedes clearly has a desire to promote the AMG brand name as much as possible as that is fine by us. The name of the Mercedes Formula 1 team for 2012 will now include AMG in the title. There is more to this name change than just brand awareness however. The Mercedes Formula 1 powertrain facility in Brixworth, UK has worked closely with the AMG division for a number of years now so it is great to see AMG get the credit they deserve. ...Published on 12-07-2011 02:48 AM
News on the HPF single turbo 335 N54 kit had died down for a while but HPF renewed interest by posting photos of their currently development. Rest assured, it is coming. What struck us is that Chris (owner of HPF) stated they intend to get this motor over 800 wheel horsepower. A lofty goal indeed as fueling and tuning solutions still need to take place. If anyone is going to make it happen it looks like a good bet is HPF. ...Published on 12-07-2011 02:10 AM
Nobody should be shocked that a new GT3 is on the way from Porsche with the next generation 991. The vehicle was spotted testing and will have the center exit exhaust we have all grown to love. The real question is what will be done to the motor? Will the 991 GT3 simply pick up from where the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 left off? We expect no less than 4.0 liter flat-6 with 500 horsepower based on the GT1 racing block. We do not see Porsche taking a step backward and they have set the bar very high with the 4.0 GT3 RS. A PDK is hopefully in the cards as well. ...Published on 12-07-2011 01:30 AM
GIAC released a video to show they were successful in removing the speed limiter on the B8 S4. This test is done with no load as in on a dyno. The car gets up to 180 mph in 7th gear showing they were successful. Would the car hit this much in the real world? Eventually, perhaps, but even on the dyno the vehicle slows considerably once it gets into 6th gear. Regardless, if one is finding the limiter to be an issue GIAC has a solution. ...Published on 12-06-2011 07:51 AM
Here is a little teaser of the upcoming M113K supercharger upgrade from Weistec Engineering. The supercharger used will be a 3.0 liter unit which is larger than the blower used for the M156 kits. It will produce much more power with much less heat than the stock unit. In addition, Weistec will be seeking CARB approval for the Stage I which considering the precedent set with the M156 kit they should able to achieve again making for 2 CARB legal Mercedes supercharger offerings. ...Published on 12-06-2011 02:52 AM
There are internal discussions at AMG regarding moving AMG vehicles to all wheel drive. This is not all that shocking considering how high the power output is getting on AMG vehicles and that they have been traction limited in 0-60 sprints for some time now. Better traction control has helped but Mercedes has already moved to all wheel drive on certain models such as the E550 which is available in 4matic all wheel drive only. ...Published on 12-06-2011 02:41 AM
These are some very impressive results. The M3 used is a DCT as which has slightly higher drivetrain losses than the manual making cracking 400 whp in naturally aspirated form on 91 octane quite the achievement. The baseline for the M3 was 351 whp, spot on. With an air filter and under drive pulley it hit 367 wheel horsepower. With the addition of a GIAC tune and exhaust including X-pipe the car hit 400 whp for a gain of 49 horsepower at the wheels, very nice. The car will be tested next with an Evolve tune and we will report how it compares to the GIAC. ...Published on 12-06-2011 02:22 AM
Some good news from Porsche. Autonews confirmed with the Porsche America CEO that the vehicle would come in the second half of 2012. This will be the first time a diesel motor was ever sold by Porsche in North America. The diesel is expected to sell as well as the hybrid but we predict it will do better than the hybrid model. If it does do well, expect a Porsche Panamera Diesel to be sold in the USA as well although there are no plans for that as of right now. ...Published on 12-05-2011 03:22 PM
Back in October we showed you the awesome Akrapovic R8 V10 exhaust. A great exhaust option that saves 35 pounds from the R8 and also adds 14 horsepower to the 5.2 V10. Well now we have a video from Akrapovic that shows the important part, what this exhaust sounds like. To put it simply, the sounds is awesome. Check out the video of the R8 V10 5.2 spyder below featuring the exhaust and thank us later. ...Published on 12-04-2011 02:57 AM
We love ALMS racing, we really do. Nothing like seeing Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, and Chevrolet duke it out (there are others such as Ford and Jaguar but they don't really challenge yet). Audi is rumored to be getting into the mix with the R8 LMS set up for ALMS GT duty. We reported on the revamped R8 LMS Ultra and it would seem Audi is considering doing a lot more with it. Will it happen? This is all speculation circling the internet at this point but we certainly hope so. ...Published on 12-04-2011 02:40 AM
The race for luxury leader in the USA is getting tighter. November sales had Mercedes coming out on top of BMW. Mercedes is now just 1600 units behind BMW for all of 2011. BMW moved 21,521 units in November which was an increase of 7%. This makes two months in a row that Mercedes has topped BMW despite BMW increasing its sales. If Mercedes had a December to remember (yes, the rhyming was intentional) they can beat out BMW for the year. ...Published on 12-03-2011 07:37 AM
Here are some pictures of our "NEW" single 3.5" exhaust "with Resonator" for the BMW 335i. Our previous versions did not include the resonator and many people that have our Gen 1 versions wanted it to be a little quieter. People also wanted a better price. Not only did we accomplish both of these goals, we also kept the extremely high quality as you can see from the pictures below. We offer both flame style and polished titanium tips. ...Published on 12-03-2011 12:51 AM
Many automotive sites are reporting that Audi is receiving criticism for their styling starting to look the same. Frankly, AudiBoost believes it is unjustified. Audi has some of the best and most progressive styling out there. Their designs seem to be the most modern out of all the German brands. BMW used to be in this pitfall pre-Bangle and the transition was awkward. Audi made it work and continues to update their styles frequently as seen with recent face-lifts to their models. ...
