The G-Wagon has been around for... well, it seems like forever. Mercedes continues to improve the vehicle consistently and now they have given it the new twin turbo M157 V8. The G-Wagon made its reputation as a rugged off-roader so the idea of a twin turbo V8 G-Class from AMG for tearing up the streets may seem odd but it's undeniably cool. Check out the teaser video below and try to tell yourself you do not want one. ...Published on 05-03-2012 04:05 AM
Now this is a comparison we have been dying to see. The problem? It's done by Chris Harris and we can not figure out why he keeps getting these cars to test. His videos are essentially a string of his subjective opinions making for a glorified narrator with little data although we do at least get laptimes. It's great he tells us what he thinks but it would be nice to have more data (slalom, specs, skidpad, dyno, braking, 1/4 mile, etc.). Not to mention he often gives conflicting opinions as well as those that do not make sense like what we saw in his GT-R to F10 M5 comparison. At least this time he compared the proper cars. ...Published on 05-02-2012 06:31 PM
We all know the PDK makes the Carrera S into a very fast vehicle. Just take a look at this direct comparison between the manual and the PDK where the dual clutch trans provides over half a second in acceleration through the 1/4 mile. We have two sets of test numbers here from European magazines both of whom hit 11's through 400 meters (just over 7 feet short of a 1/4 mile) and both of whom trapped 118 MPH. ...Published on 05-02-2012 04:02 PM
Why the Nissan GT-R keeps getting included in performance luxury sedan comparisons we have no clue. Maybe a statement being made about its weight? Who knows, but the M5 and CLS are not the GT-R's competition. Regardless, this test gives us more insight on the acceleration figures of the Performance Package M157 AMG motors versus the F10 M5. The cars accelerate even to 100 mph at which point by 124 mph the CLS with the Performance Package opens up a gap. Through the 1/4 mile the M5 runs a tenth faster but the CLS63 has the higher trap speed. ...Published on 05-02-2012 04:22 AM
This is a cool comparison done a little while ago by Road and Track although the video was just recently uploaded. As far as GT Class race cars are concerned the company that offers the closest experience to its race car is arguably Porsche. The GT3 uses a similar motor to the race car and does not give up too much power or weight. The GT3 is about 300 pounds more than the race car and has 25 less horses with its 3.8 liter. If the GT3 RS 4.0 was used the advantage in power would actually be in the street cars favor by about 50 horses. ...Published on 05-01-2012 10:21 PM
With Audi's acquisition of Ducati it was only a matter of time before we started seeing these comparisons. The TT-RS is a very quick little car with awesome traction afforded thank to its all wheels drive. Ducati makes some top of the line sport bikes that are incredibly rapid. Power to weight is clearly in the Ducati's favor but traction and braking will be in the Audi's. Who is faster around the track? Watch the video to find out. ...Published on 05-01-2012 06:48 AM
We are still having trouble adjusting to the idea of an M4 instead of an M3 coupe. It just does not feel natural with an M3 coupe being the first M3 ever and existing before an M3 sedan ever did. Regardless, the F82 is coming and until we get some concrete styling details there are going to be renderings and speculation. These renderings come courtesy of iacoski and although these give us somewhat of an idea we are not big fans of these renderings for several reasons. ...Published on 05-01-2012 04:40 AM
Lorinser has revealed their new widebody kit for the new W166 ML. The kit features a new front bumper, 30mm extended wheel arches, side skirts, and a new rear bumper with integrated diffuser. They also lower the SUV with springs (or software for Airmatic cars) and offer their own 22 inch wheels. The kit itself is not anything special and not exactly clean as the fenders and vents look tacky. The recently revealed Kicherer widebody kit is simply a much better execution of exterior modification on the W166 platform. ...Published on 05-01-2012 04:01 AM
Introducing the 3D Design body pieces for the new F10 M5. These are all made out of carbon fiber and include a front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser, trunk spoiler, and a roof spoiler is available as well. The pieces definitely look good and compliment the F10 M5 well without being ostentatious. Photos are courtesy of our vendor IND Distribution who is accepting pre-orders for these pieces which will be shipping mid to late May. We hope to get pricing information shortly but do not expect these parts to be cheap especially considering they are 100% carbon fiber. ...Published on 05-01-2012 12:17 AM
A very impressive start to the hotly contested 2012 DTM season by Mercedes. Drivers Gary Paffett and Jamie Green were able to achieve a 1-2 finish respectively. Audi and Mercedes took the first 5 spots with newcomer BMW's best finish coming in 6th place. Even more impressive is that the Mercedes drivers managed the 1-2 victory with Audi taking the pole. Congratulations to Mercedes for a strong start. Audi also showed they will be a strong force and BMW clearly has some work to do. Full results below. ...Published on 04-30-2012 09:45 PM
Our service team had just a couple short weeks to produce the HPF Drag M3. There was a tremendous amount of customization, new product development and engineering that went into this build in a very short period of time. They started with a completely base shell of an E46 M3 to make sure that there would be nothing added back to the car that wasn't needed. As a result the final weight of the car complete is only 2640 lbs! ...Published on 04-30-2012 09:40 PM
Porsche released the official trailer for the new Cayenne GTS. The GTS gets several changes from the standard Cayenne S. These include a new air suspension that sits 20mm lower standard, 20 inch wheels standard, upgraded brakes, 20 more horsepower (420 total), and a shorter final drive. These are in addition to the exterior and interior styling changes such as the sport design aero package and Alcantara. Check out the video below. ...Published on 04-28-2012 02:36 AM
Now, this video is not the best quality as it is from an Iphone. That is OK though, it is still easy to see what happens as the 135i takes the C63 by about a car length. Definitely impressive considering this is a 6 speed manual 135i and that it also had a passenger. Remove that passenger and it will buy another car length. The C63 is stock and the 135i has a BMS JB4 (order one from our vendor Burger Tuning if you like to win races), downpipes, and a meth kit. Definitely a quick 135i on the street although a tune on that C63 will be put the advantage right back in its favor. ...Published on 04-28-2012 02:12 AM
Porsche added the Cup Aerokit option to the 991 and this new package is available for $6000. That is certainly not cheap but the Cup Aerokit does look great with its new front as well as rear spoiler. For just a bumper and a spoiler though we can not help but feel Porsche is taking serious advantage of customers here but this is nothing new with Porsche option pricing. For those who want a more aggressive look for far less money, Vorsteiner has you covered. ...Published on 04-28-2012 02:02 AM
The W221 S-Class is winding down and the next generation W222 set to replace it is finishing up testing. What we see clearly in the photos here are new LED's incorporated into the headlights. It seems every manufacturer is getting on board with the idea of LED headlights and Mercedes seems intent to incorporate them into all their new models. Expect the new S-Class to be revealed later this year. Oh, and a plug-in hybrid version will also be coming along. Do not worry, Mercedes is not going soft, as a new S63 AMG with the M157 twin turbo V8 is also in the cards. ...Published on 04-28-2012 01:40 AM
The current Audi R8 still looks very fresh and with updates coming such as a horsepower boost and a dual clutch gearbox (DSG) we expect it to stay in production for a few more years. That does not stop speculation about the next generation model which will no doubt come sometime after the Gallardo successor is launched. The next model is supposed to be lighter but other than that we have few details on it. Enjoy the renderings below courtesy of AutoBild. ...Published on 04-28-2012 01:31 AM

The VW group continues right along making money hand over fist. Results beat analysts expectations thanks to higher profits from Audi. How much higher? Well, a 10% increase from last year with profits getting up to 3.21 billions Euros from 2.91 billions Euros at this same point last year. Shares rose more than have in 5 months and despite all of Europe's economic problems the VW group continues to thrive. ...Published on 04-26-2012 10:41 PM
This is a natural comparison as Nissan made it known when they were first testing the GT-R that the 911 Turbo was their target. Both cars have all wheel drive, both cars have twin turbo 6 cylinder motors, and both have dual clutch transmissions. The GTR has received steady upgrades with the 2013 version sporting 545 horses. The 997 Turbo has not stated stagnant receiving a PDK transmission and the Turbo S gets a horsepower bump to 530. So which is the best? ...Published on 04-26-2012 08:04 PM
The A25 AMG Mercedes is definitely coming as you can see here. Expected under the hood is a 340+ horsepower 2.0 liter version of the current M271 turbo four cylinder motor. This will allow it to compete with the Audi S3 and any M badged version of the BMW 1 Series. The power is expected to be routed to all four wheels with a dual clutch transmission. Expect this same same driveline to find its way into the B-Class as well as the upcoming baby CLS. ...
