The year is not over yet but certainly is winding down. Good news for Mercedes-Benz as they lead BMW by 5,200 units sold up until this point. In the United States that makes for a 8.7% gain in September for Mercedes-Benz and 12.7% year to date. The Mercedes and BMW sales battle came down to the last few days of the year with every sale having an impact in the tight race in 2011 but it looks like Mercedes has themselves a bit of a cushion this year. ...Published on 10-04-2012 07:20 PM
This M3 comes from China and apparently the owner has more money than he knows what to do with as he spent quite a bit ruining this M3. Gold foil is fine if pulled off correctly. There is an X5M in Russia that was able to do exactly this keeping it somewhat tasteful with the gold foil. This car takes the already ostentatious gold foil and then adds look at me lambo style doors with a widebody kit that has questionable fitment. ...Published on 10-04-2012 06:00 PM
This is really not surprise as Volkswagen shares development across its brands. What is interesting though is that the future Porsche MSB (Modular Standard Platform or Modularer Standardantrieb-Baukasten in German) platform will underpin all future Bentley models. This platform will incorporate aluminum meaning the very heavy curb weight of the current Bentley models is expected to drop. This platform is modular so we will see it first with a new Mulsanne model and then other models. ...Published on 10-04-2012 04:41 AM
All good things must come to an end, even for one of the greatest drivers of a generation. It seems the announcement by Mercedes of the signing of Lewis Hamilton was the final push Michael Schumacher needed to finally decide to retire from Formula 1 racing for good. Schumacher seems to be at peace with his decision seemingly knowing that his ride in F1 had come to an end this season. ...Published on 10-04-2012 02:57 AM
This is one enthusiasts hoped would somehow get approved but unfortunately it was not meant to be. The Quattro Coupe was last reported on in August that it could possible see production in 2015 to honor 35 years of Quattro. This news was greeted warmly by Audi enthusiasts and performance enthusiasts alike as a lightweight (sub 3000 pound) all wheel drive 2-seater with 380 horsepower from an inline-5 turbo is incredibly appealing. ...Published on 10-04-2012 02:50 AM
The intake plenum and throttle body on the Porsche 3.4 liter flat-6 motors such as those in the 987 Cayman S and R is considered a point of restriction. Just how big of a restriction? Well, according to the dyno IPD (Innovative Pro Design) provided by ditching the factory plenum and 74mm throttle body for the IPD 82mm upgraded pieces gains of 20 wheel horsepower can be achieved. The dyno provided is a dyno dynamics dynograph done at Autowave. ...Published on 10-04-2012 02:12 AM
It's great to see BMW not only as an automaker but also as an engine supplier providing their powerplants for automakers with different approaches and goals. The N20 powerplant is a technical marvel making very good power and torque (241 hp, 258 lb-ft) from its 2.0 liter displacement while remaining efficient. It is for these reasons that Fisker would be interested in the motor for their entry level priced ($55,000 range) Atlantic plug-in hybrid automobile. This is potentially a big deal for BMW and for Fisker. ...Published on 10-04-2012 02:06 AM
You should know by now that the E-Class is going away from its separated headlights and to a single style headlight. This change will not just be for the sedan and wagon as shown in spy photos but the C207 E-Coupe will also be getting a similar facelift. A bit of a bummer that Mercedes is ditching the signature headlight design element of the E-Class which makes this move feel like change for the sake of change. ...Officially official - 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible pictures, specifications, and press release

BMW 335d enthusiasts here on BimmerBoost have been clamoring for an intercooler upgrade. Well, their calls for an upgrade have been answering by Wagner Tuning. The intercooler is available for E90 335d models and the diesel X5 xDrive35d is not mentioned but this intercooler likely could be modified for the SUV application as well. Regardless, this piece is definitely a step in the right direction for BMW diesel fans who want upgrades for their platform. ...Published on 10-03-2012 12:00 AM
The Porsche 991 Carrera S is a very quick vehicle offering exceptional handling as its previous 7 minute and 40 second Nurburgring laptime showed. This puts the car ahead of vehicles like the Ferrari F430 Scuderia (7:39), Porsche 997.1 Turbo (7:39), and the Mercedes McLaren SLR (7:40). ...Published on 10-02-2012 09:33 PM
The spyphotos below capture the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA. This vehicle was originally referred to as the GLC and is intended as a BMW X1 competitor. Well, now that we officially know the name what other details are there? For one, it will most likely be coming to the United States market which tends to eat crossovers and entry level SUV's up. Built motor E9X M3's are referred to usually as Stage 3 and above. In this instance, both cars having built bottom ends with forged internals making for two Stage 3 M3's. The camera car is an E90 M3 running a Vortech YSI at 16.5 psi. The camera car also has a passenger recording. The blue car has 12.5 psi likely from a Vortech T-Trim as this owner opted to re-use the supercharger from his Stage 2 Gintani supercharged setup that was used on the stock motor. Here is a very affordable part for 996 Turbo Porsches from USP Motorsports. Their Turbo Inlet Pipes replace the restrictive factory turbo inlet pipes. These are 2.5 inches in diameter which will give improved torque and horsepower throughout the powerband. The gains will vary depending on mods but on a low boost tuned setup the USP turbo inlet made a difference in power of 33 wheel horsepower while dropping boost/backpressure by almost 2 psi. ...Published on 10-02-2012 01:52 AM

Kind of a funny coincidence and fitting that Augusto Farfas would get the win at the DTM race in Valencia this past weekend after being in the news all week when the video of him taking his wife around the Nurburgring in an M3 made the internet rounds. Although BMW got the victory it was really Audi that cleaned up in points getting 61 points over the weekend compared to the 1 point Mecedes was able to get vaulting themselves into first place. ...Published on 09-29-2012 04:40 PM
On the highway high power modded cars can definitely match and beat some of the faster bikes out there. A motorcycle has a higher coefficient as drag simply not being as aerodynamic as a sports car hurting it the higher speeds go. Still, the power to weight ratio of modern bikes makes them absurdly fast. The video below reflects this well as the S1000RR is able to beat the Nissan GTR although the Twin Turbo Gallardo is able to beat the bike. ...Published on 09-29-2012 04:33 PM
The C63 AMG Black and CLK63 AMG Black Series are two very similar vehicles making this for a very interesting comparison. The C63 Black Series really being an updated version of the what the CLK63 Black Series was.
