GMG Racing announces the launch of their full carbon fiber replacement doors for the Audi R8. These fit all Audi R8 models, V8, V10, etc. The doors are a complete replacement made out of 100% pre-preg carbon fiber. This makes for a very low weight of 7.5 pounds each. Professional installation is required which GMG offers. For those serious about racing and getting their R8 as light as possible this is definitely an upgrade to look into. ...Published on 11-02-2012 03:35 PM
BimmerBoost was very impressed with this swap done by G-Power as reported in September when the car was revealed. Take a 1-Series, swap in the M3's S65 V8, supercharge it, and then give it 1M body work for an excellent recipe. G-Power states the vehicle has about 600 horsepower which certainly sounds about right. In the video below you can see what the car sounds like as well as get an idea of the performance offered. ...Published on 11-02-2012 02:50 PM
Is this how Porsche will finally move away from the 911? Porsche CEO Matthias Muller confirmed a mid-engined Porsche sports car is under development which will be a rival for the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren MP4-12C. This vehicle would be priced above the GT2 RS but obviously much less than the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrd-supercar. Expect similar $250,000-$300,000 pricing as the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren MP4-12C. ...Published on 10-30-2012 09:05 PM
GermanBoost coverage of SEMA 2012 will be split into three days simply due to the size of the show this year. It looks bigger than ever and quite simply is packed. This set of photos covers wheels and tires as well as whatever else that was interesting that happened to be in the hall. Overall, quite an enjoyable first day with a ton to look at and some very high quality booth babes. Enjoy the photos with descriptions below. ...Published on 10-30-2012 09:04 PM
Was great to see these wheels in person that have been generating a lot of buzz. Yes, 100% full carbon fiber wheel including the barrel that weighs only 15 pounds for a 19 inch. That kind of weight savings does not come cheap as a set of four costs $15,000. But... if you want the absolute lightest wheel and with dymag no longer in existence as a carbon wheel manufacturer (and that wheel was not 100% carbon fiber) this is it. ...Published on 10-30-2012 07:50 PM
Very nice comparison here from Motorweek who took a B8 S4 sedan with the supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 and dual clutch transmission versus the new B8 S5 that Audi updated with the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 as well. The difference here being that the B8 S5 is manua versus the dual clutch B8 S4. So what were their results with the two cars? ...Published on 10-29-2012 11:42 AM
Here is simply a flat out sick build from Precision Sport in Florida. They start with a stock E63 M6 in silver and then proceed to go nuts. The car gets a matte black vinyl wrap, orange HRE 590R rims, Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, KW Variant 3 suspension, Agency Power S85 headers, Vorsteiner carbon lip and rear boot, Okada Plasma coils, and a G-Power SKII S85 V10 supercharger system on top of all of that. ...Published on 10-29-2012 11:04 AM
The C63 AMG really wakes up with a tune, this is well known. Just check out how well this tune only C63 AMG does versus an IS-F with a full exhaust. The C63 in stock form is already faster than the IS-F. So, no surprise one sporting a tune wins. What this illustrates though is the power disparity between the two that even though the IS-F gets a bit of a jump the C63 reels it in and passes it quickly and easily. ...Published on 10-29-2012 10:53 AM
The first generation Volkswagen Phaeton was a failure. The idea of a high end Volkswagen luxury sedan is good on paper in the sense of increasing brand awareness and perception. But why buy a VW priced like an Audi A8 when you can just buy the Audi A8? And herein lies the problem with the Phaeton for Volkswagen. Will things change with the Phaeton sharing Porsche Panamera and Bentley platforms? ...Published on 10-29-2012 10:30 AM
Well this is out of left-field, what's going on Audi? Shocking considering how much time Audi has spent blowing smoke up our rear ends regarding the R8 E-Tron. In late June of this year Audi spent a bunch of time touting how their E-Tron was the fastest "production" electric car to lap the Nurburgring. It was certainly an impressive achievement but now the claim for a production electric can no longer be made. ...Published on 10-29-2012 10:10 AM
Here is a fairly good looking body kit design for the new 958 Cayenne from United Kingdom based tuner Kahn Design. Much of what Kahn does tends to be tacky and overdone but this is one kit that works to a dgree. Obviously it includes wide fenders, a new front bumper, rear diffuser, and spoilers. The fenders are where the car falls apart a bit though as they look somewhat tacky and glued on. The white color of the car doesn't hide this well and but a darker color could off it off better. ...Published on 10-28-2012 04:11 PM
Here is SpeedART's 981 Boxster tuning program. They have parts available for the Boxster as well as the Boxster S. The body kit pictured is available for either car. It includes a new front spoiler, side skirts, wing, and rear diffuser. The body pieces are very good looking but the wing may be a bit much and does not look too clean. Interior upgrades are also available. ...Published on 10-28-2012 02:57 PM
The 2012 season continues to be rough for Mercedes-Petronas who is projecting the feeling that they have given up. Nico Rosberg finished in 11th place which means 1 spot out of the points picking up nothing. Michael Schumacher finished in 22nd place which was the last car to finish the race. The only cars that had a worse result than Schumacher were the two that were not able to finish the race and had to retire. ...Published on 10-28-2012 02:08 PM
Well something is definitely up with this race. The video description seems to strongly favor the M3 but it is incorrect in certain areas making for low credibility of the mods. The M3 is clearly supercharged and a 6-speed manual car, that much is true. But the GT-R is said to have Stillen downpipes which Stillen does not actually make... oops. Secondly, the claim is 20 psi with the tune on 91 octane which no intelligent GT-R owner or tuner is going to be recommending or doing partially due to fuel system limitations.

Mercedes-Benz continues to expand the model variants of the C-class. With the current generation W204 we all saw the introduction of the C-Coupe on that platform although it came fairly late in the lifespan of the platform. With the W205 generation Mercedes will offer more variants right away including a convertible coupe. Will this create a problem with overlap regarding the E-Class coupe? ...Published on 10-28-2012 12:50 PM
The Alpina B7 simply has to be used in a comparison with the Audi S8 since the BMW lineup has a major gap with no M7. Why no M7 when there are M SUV's? No explanation, the old argument about a heavy and low revving M car not fitting the brand strategy can no longer be used. So in comes Alpina to fill a niche with their B7 based on the 750i who gives the N63 V8 upgraded turbos and a new tune. ...Published on 10-27-2012 12:50 PM
Congratulations to Cobb and Pro Tuning Freaks for having the first 335is to run 11's in the 1/4 mile. This car has the stock 18 inch wheels with the stock Pilot Sport Run Flat tires making this all the more impressive and representative of street performance. No meth injection, no drag radials, just a Cobb pro tune and intake, AR downpipes, and front mount intercooler. ...Published on 10-25-2012 12:15 PM
This is a serious mis-match but still fun to see. The S65 AMG with its M275 twin turbo V12 puts out some serious power in stock form and gets really mean with a good tune. A stock E60 M5 and a stock S65 AMG would be a pretty good race but as you see in the video below an aggressive tune on the S65 AMG and it is game over for the M5. From a stop or from a roll it doesn't matter, once 3rd to 4th gear hits the S65 AMG is flat out gone. ...Published on 10-25-2012 11:07 AM
The current Audi RS3 uses a 2.5 TFSI turbo inline-5 cylinder motor with 340 horsepower which also is used in the TT-RS. A very capable motor capable of over 500 wheel horsepower in tuned form. The new Audi S3 puts out 300 horsepower from 2.0 TFSI motor so one would expect the new Audi RS3 to raise the bar considerably over the previous generation car. ...Published on 10-25-2012 09:50 AM
There are going to be several built motor supercharged S65 V8 M3 V8 setups starting to roam the streets this year. ESS will have the VT2-725, Gintani will have their Stage III and Stage III+, and Active Autowerke will have their level 4. Each takes a different approach with ESS using the same Vortech V3Si blower their kits already employ, Gintani offering Vortech T-Trim, V3, and YSI options, and Active Autowerke employing a Rotrex C-38 but is able to accommodate other blowers as well. ...
