It seems like a new "special edition" M3 is launched every week making for cars that really aren't all that special or rare. Here is the latest one the BMW M3 DTM Championship Edition. This follows equally lame special edition M3's such as the M Performance Edition, Frozen Grey Edition, and the Lime Rock Edition. There are also other special editions for specific markets like China yet the one similarity among all of them is that they are incredibly underwhelming, overpriced, and pointless. ...Published on 12-07-2012 09:11 PM
Being able to say the Pope is one of your customers certainly offers quite a bit of prestige. Mercedes-Benz recently delivered a brand new W166 M-Class based Popemobile to Pope Benedict XVI. This is not the first Mercedes-Benz Popemobile as there have been variants based on the G Wagon as well as previous generation ML SUV's. This new vehicle was delivered on Friday and the Pope can be seen in it as early as this weekend at the Vatican. ...Published on 12-07-2012 08:51 PM
Hopefully you heard the big Audi news by now that the new C7 RS6 Avant was officially revealed a few days ago. It did not take long for renderings of what the sedan version will look like to pop up. Well here are sedan renderings by Theophilus Chin that show off two angles. It would have been better if he chose some more direct angles especially from the rear but it's at least something to go on. ...Published on 12-07-2012 07:20 AM
The BMW forum game is honestly pretty twisted. Full of back room deals with vendors struggling for dominance of one another attempting to get every last dollar from every last user. Some may say this is business but on some websites this is how they extort money. Pay enough to get preferential treatment and your competition will find their posts are deleted, fans silenced, censorship is employed, and those who speak out are banned. This is exactly what ModBargains is experiencing. ...Published on 12-07-2012 02:28 AM
This is quite simply awesome. 034 Motorsport took a second generation Audi TT-RS and turned it into a beast of a road racing car. The motor is the same 2.5 liter inline-5 that sees duty in the TT-RS tweaked slightly to output 372 horsepower. Not huge power, but offering great power to weight when one considers this car is 820 pounds lighter than the street car on which it is based at 2464 pounds. ...Published on 12-07-2012 01:58 AM
This is a very cool race to see although somewhat of a mismatch. The W211 E55 AMG belongs to BenzBoost member RedBullJnky (whom we thank for the footage) and is by all accounts a seriously fast E-Class. 540 wheel horsepower and 574 pound-feet of wheel torque courtesy of Eurocharged tuning makes for a low 11 second car capable of trapping in the mid 120's. The E63 AMG on the other hand is the new W212 generation and features the M157 Twin Turbo V8. ...Published on 12-06-2012 10:10 PM
Last month Porsche registered the 919 name in Germany. So what could this name possible mean and for what car? Chances are it will be the name of what was reported to be a Porsche 961. That is, a new mid-engine sports car that would use the 4.6 liter V8 from the 918 Spyder with about 580 horsepower. This car would be placed above the 911 in the lineup allowing Porsche to move past their rear engine platform and also sit below the range topping 918 Spyder. ...Published on 12-06-2012 09:10 PM
There was speculation that BMW would no longer race in ALMS after this season. BMW finished in second place to Corvette Racing failing to defend their championship for the second straight year. Speculation on a move began when BMW started to publicly complain and lobby against new technical regulations they said were slowing their cars down to the point where they were no longer competitive. So BMW will ditch the M3 GT's for Z4 GTE race cars. ...Published on 12-06-2012 02:55 AM
The 991 GT3 RSR development sure has come along very quickly. Porsche announced they will have Porsche AG Team Manthey field two cars in the GTE class for the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans. Porsche Motorsport boss Hartmut Kristen stated, "The new 911 RSR is currently being developed by our engineers and tested by our works drivers, and what better time could there be to introduce the new car than the Porsche 911’s 50th anniversary." ...Published on 12-05-2012 09:30 PM
Finally, here is the new C7 Audi RS6 although it is in wagon form. The sedan will be introduced later just as was the case with the previous generation car. The new RS6 ditches the Twin Turbo V10 from the last generation model for a version of the 4.0 TFSI already in use by Audi as well as Bentley. This is the highest horsepower version of this motor used by the VW Group thus far eclipsing the 520 horsepower of the Audi S8 and the 500 horsepower of the Bentley Continental GT V8 both with a 4.0 TFSI V8 variant. ...Published on 12-05-2012 07:01 PM
As BMW often does they released a concept model ahead of the official debut of a new production model. In this case, it is the F32 4-Series Coupe. The car looks all around and sleeker than the F30 3-Series. BMW's new "side vent" seen on the 3-Series GT (Gran Turismo) is also incorporated on the 4-Series coupe. Most opinions thus far on the forums are calling the vent tacky but it seems to be a staple of the new BMW styling direction for this generation. ...Published on 12-04-2012 11:29 PM
A little while ago a debate raged on the BenzBoost forums regarding the horsepower output of the CLK63 AMG Black Series which came out as a 2008 model car versus the brand new C63 AMG Black Series. BenzBoost was able to obtain courtesy of Renntech six dynojet run files from two C63 AMG Black Series vehicles and fifteen CLK63 AMG Black Series run files from six different vehicles. These all come from the same Florida dynojet. ...Published on 12-04-2012 10:36 PM
Updates on this twin turbo upgrade for the N54 have not been posted in some time leading to some speculation that CP-E was no longer working on it. As a matter of fact, the last time anything was posted on it was in November of last year. That updated showed a mock-up of the manifolds and the turbos. Since then things have progressed to actually having the turbos and manifolds mounted on the motor with a mock up of the piping. ...Published on 12-04-2012 08:31 PM
The new Audi S3 is already on the market sporting a 132 pound lower curb weight than the previous generation model along with more power, 300 horsepower to be exact. A new RS3 is pretty much a sure thing. The car would not show up earlier than as a 2014 model and would sport the previous generation 2.5 liter turbocharged and direct injected inline-5 cylinder motor. Power would likely rise from the 335 horsepower of the previous model. ...Published on 12-03-2012 10:02 PM
Discussion from Audi regarding the next generation TT such as a return to the original style language and aggressive targeting of lightweight high performance models have prompted a large degree of speculation on the next generation car. This has naturally led to speculative renderings and the ones we have posted below are quite simply excellent. It's safe to say if the car looks as good as imagined here it will be a success. ...Published on 12-03-2012 08:02 PM
The 3-Series Gran Turismo was captured completely undisguised during a photo shoot but the car is so damn ugly BimmerBoost would prefer the car with its camouflage on or in other words with a bag over its head. BimmerBoost wondered why another GT variant made sense after the failure of the 5-Series GT. Well, rather than give us an M1 supercar, an M3 GTS, or a Z4M, instead we all get another confused GT that does not know if it's trying to be a wagon, SUV, or both. ...Published on 12-03-2012 07:10 PM
This is not really "new" news. In July of last year PorscheBoost reported that a 350 horsepower 2.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder would make its way into the new Cayman and Boxster. It was expected for this motor to take longer to go into the model however as the rumor was the motor would make its debut when the 981 Cayman and Boxster received a facelift somewhere around 2015. Reports not indicate the car with the turbo motor will make its debut as early as next year in Frankfurt. ...Published on 12-03-2012 05:40 PM
All hail what appears to be (at least on paper) the new king of the luxury performance sedan segment. The current E63 AMG is already a beast but as reported in October was rumored to get all wheel drive and a dual clutch transmission. Part of that report is now confirmed by MotorTrend who got to spend some time with the new E63 AMG. This will be one the first non-SUV AMG vehicles to get all wheel drive which will coming to more and more models such as the CLA45 AMG. ...Published on 12-01-2012 10:10 PM
The Panamera Turbo sounds pretty good in stock form but for those wanting to uncork that V8 an aftermarket exhaust is necessary. In comes Akrapovovic with their Titanium valved exhaust system for the Porsche Panamera Turbo. Made out of titanium, it is lighter than the factory exhaust system. The system makes a noticeable difference even when the valves are closed compared to the factory exhaust. ...Published on 12-01-2012 07:46 PM
Taking automotive designed and technology and applying them to regular goods is not anything new as Porsche Design does this all the time. Audi decided to showcase their talents on something as simple and basic as a chair. This chair being anything but basic however weighing only 4.8 pounds thanks to its chair legs made of folded sheet aluminum welded using a cold metal transfer process and the seat shell being made of carbon fiber composite materials. ...
