Here is another set of renderings of the W205 C-Class and this is the best set so far. Much better done than what was posted by Autocar Magazine although these renderings maintain the same style language. These may not be accurate as the rear proportions seem somewhat off with too short of an overhang but the styling details should be close only if Autocar was not far off. If so, this car is going to blend in somewhat with the upcoming CLA. ...Published on 01-13-2013 02:48 PM
This is a dyno overlay comparison of the twin turbo V8 engine in the new F10 M5 (S63TU) with an Eisenmann Race rear section versus the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG W204 Black Series Coupe M156 V8 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG M157 Twin Turbo V8 stated to be with the Performance Package option which increases boost pressure. The results as presented show the M5 V8 with the most horsepower considerably at 537 wheel on a dynojet in SAE correction. ...Published on 01-12-2013 04:46 PM
Supersprint released their exhaust for the 991 Carrera S and it sounds excellent. The exhaust consists of a catback system featuring 4x90mm chrome slash cut tips with rear X-pipe and bypass pipes. Side mufflers are included for a more quiet mode. The video starts with the valves closed and the sound is a bit muffled. Once warmed up and the bypass is activated the car really opens up and even shoots some flames out the tips. ...Published on 01-12-2013 04:21 PM
The W212 E63 AMG facelift will be applied to the C218 CLS63 AMG as well. Unlike the E-Class however the CLS will not be getting cosmetic changes but instead changes to the driveline and M157 V8 Twin Turbo motor. The most important of which is the addition of 4Matic all wheel drive. The M157 Twin Turbo and direct injected 5.5 liter V8 is also boosted to 557 horsepower and up to 585 horsepower in the optional S-model trim. ...Published on 01-12-2013 02:10 PM
Here is a dyno comparison at the crank from the MKVI Golf R one of which is equipped with the APR Stage II+ kit which utilizes the stock K04 turbo and the Stage III kit which utilizes a Garret GTX series turbo. The Stage III offers more power but what the spool is what is impressive as there is much more top end without a big sacrifice in lag. The graph shows only about a couple hundred RPM difference between the stock and upgraded turbo. ...Published on 01-12-2013 01:11 PM
Finally some test numbers for the Mercedes-Benz M271 turbo four cylinder motor. The motor is not exactly top of its class in the German direct injected four cylinder arena but the 1.8 liter 201 horsepower motor propels the relatively lightweight 3,325 pound SLK250 well. 0-60 comes in 6.8 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.9@92.3. These are not world beating numbers but for an entry level car definitely respectable. ...Published on 01-12-2013 12:16 PM
Race on Sunday, to sell on Monday. This old saying is indicative of the new Generation 7 supercharger system for the E46 M3. Through countless hours of testing, it has often been quoted that the true test has always been a race environment. What better venue than Brock Yates One Lap of America Race. With a rigorous 7,000 miles to be covered within a week, and to compete against the likes of Porsches, Corvettes, Nissan GTRs, this would be the testing grounds for the new Generation Active Autowerke Supercharger system. The Active Autowerke Generation 7 Supercharger System not only proved its worth by being the highest ranked BMW within the field, but also ranked 1st in its class. ...Published on 01-12-2013 01:23 AM
Here is a new power kit courtesy of TPC Racing for the new Porsche 981 Boxster S called the Blitzkrieg Atmo 355 Powerpak. 355 referring to the estimated crank horsepower rating (up from 315 stock) after adding this kit. Following hot on the heels of the announcement that the new Beetle will get R-Line trim in the United States Volkswagen announced that the Touareg and Tiguan R-Line will be available. Just like the Beetle, the R-Line is all cosmetic and Volkswagen USA states the R-Line is for those who want the sporty looks of R model (Like the Golf R) but without the engine performance. Eight cars competed in this class including the Ford Shelby GT500, Porsche Boxster S, Audi RS5, Audi S6, BMW M5, Porsche 911 Carrera S, BMW M6, and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series. This video comes to us from the Middle East thanks to BenzBoost member Alrasheed1991. He has a Stage I Weistec supercharged C63 AMG which utilizes MHP tuning. One would think the supercharged C63 should crush a Gallardo Superleggera but this is the updated LP-570-4 version with the higher horsepower direct injected 5.2 liter V10 pushing 562 horses. It is a much, much faster car than the original 523 horsepower 2006 Superleggera. ...Published on 01-11-2013 01:30 AM
This is a very, very impressive showing by the Active Autowerke supercharged E46. The car is a 325ci but with an S54B32 swap out of an E46 M3 and then supercharged by Active Autowerke with their HKS blower based kit at 8 psi with water-meth injection. The E46 also has a 3.62 limited slip differential, Rogue Engineering exhaust, and JVT headers. The E92 M3 is a stock DCT car on 94 octane with RPI intake scoops. ...Published on 01-09-2013 10:34 AM
This certainly appears to be a very large BMW SUV and BMW's rival for the Mercedes-Benz GL 7-seat SUV. BimmerBoost spotted the car testing in the California mountains and photos were snapped when the car came to a stop. The test driver directly stated this was the 2014 X7. Not much has been released regarding this model but clearly one can see this is one very large BMW SUV and it looks bigger than the the recently spotted next generation F15 X5. ...Published on 01-08-2013 04:51 PM
Here is a race video between two supercharged E9X M3's running competing kits. One is a DCT (dual clutch transmission) M3 and that is the camera car with the ESS VT2-625 kit. The manual M3 has the VF-Engineering VF620 supercharger kit. This is a very evenly matched race as to be expected from two kits offering very similar performance. The manual has a slight jump and the DCT appears to reel it in somewhat although the race simply ends up basically a draw. ...Published on 01-08-2013 11:40 AM
Here is a leak revealing the official design of the upcoming facelifted 2014 E63 AMG. As previously reported, the 2014 E63 AMG facelift will get an uprated M157 Twin Turbo 5.5 liter V8 with 575 horsepower mated to an all wheel drive driveline. No dual clutch transmission, but power is routed through an automatic. The facelift itself as leaked out here in official photos definitely looks far more aggressive than the standard W212 E-Class facelift which looked a bit too mild. ...Published on 01-08-2013 10:06 AM
Here it is officially is, the Audi SQ5 3.0 TFSI. In November of last year AudiBoost reported thanks to a leak that this variant would be coming and the details were completely correct. A 354 horsepower 3.0 TFSI motor which offers a bit more horsepower than the European only SQ5 3.0 TDI diesel variant which offers 313 horses. Unlike the diesel variant though, this SQ5 will be coming to the United States thankfully. ...Published on 01-05-2013 09:08 AM
Good news F12/F13 M6 owners! The Gruppe M ram air style carbon intake as seen on the F10 M5 fits and is available officially for the new M6. Now, this intake is quite simply gorgeous as Gruppe M intakes for M vehicles always are but it certainly is not cheap at $3,495. It certainly is a high quality piece and offers gains of 16 crank horsepower at peak (with substantial torque gains through the curve) but whether it is worth the money is up to you. As of right now, this is the only quality intake option for the M5/M6. ...Published on 01-05-2013 08:04 AM
The B9 generation A4 is coming in 2014 and Audi plans to implement some significant technological upgrades to the A4. The first of which will be cylinder deactivation technology. Obviously this is popular and being implemented due to gains in fuel efficiency when only half the cylinders are being used. A plug-in hybrid model is also planned as Audi intends to extend their hybrid technology with what the VW group is learning from various hybrid/electric projects (Audi E-Tron models, Porsche 918 Spyder, etc.). ...Published on 01-05-2013 07:34 AM
The GL63 AMG is simply an absurd vehicle. Absurdly awesome that is with its 5812 pound curb weight being propelled by the AMG M157 Twin Turbo and direct injected V8 which provides 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. Car and Driver tested AMG's new SUV and the acceleration for something so massive is astonishing. How about 0-60 miled per hour in 4.8 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 13.2@109? ...Published on 01-04-2013 09:41 AM
The R8 received an update recently with minor styling changes as well as mechanical changes the most important of which is the S-Tronic dual clutch transmission replacing the R-Tronic sequential manual gearbox. What you may not realize is just how much testing Audi and Quattro GmbH puts into the R8. Literally thousands upon thousands of hours of testing in harsh conditions namely on the Nurburgring which Audi feels is the toughest test for a street car. ...
