It is always great to see independent results at the drag strip to put manufacturer claims and magazine times into context. Here we have a completely stock SL65 AMG. Street tires, pump gas, no mods at all. 11.75@120 on street tires with that much power is very respectable. This time is a baseline and the owner will be returning to the strip with mods to show their impact, that is what we like to see. ...Published on 01-03-2011 01:11 AM
Asbjorn from ESS sent some very nasty letters threatening Bimmerboost with legal action over revealing issues with the supercharged stroker motor. Frankly, we do not understand why Asbjorn is doing this as it is completely beneath any professional company and far more could be accomplished by taking the higher road as one would expect the head of a large BMW aftermarket company to do. BimmerBoost does not condone these actions and finds them offensive and unprofessional. No company should say they would take pleasure in hurting anyone.
Here is what Asbjorn@ESS sent: ...Published on 01-02-2011 11:51 PM
This is a W221 S550 that caught our attention. Kind of hard to avoid a bright red S-class, isn't it? The rims are a matter of personal preference but the 22 inch forgiato rims are not our style. The designo interior is red as well to match the exterior. An S65 body kit was also added but we do not understand why the S65 badges were added to the S550? Makes the owner seem like a bit of a poser. It's different, that is for sure, but leave the fake badges and red pin stripes on wheels to the ricers. ...Published on 01-02-2011 04:39 AM
We do not do much coverage of BMW bikes but we are putting this up as we have been toying with the idea of including bike coverage. This is a nice little video of professional super bike rider Leon Haslam with the 2011 S1000RR at the Aragon circuit in Spain. The circuit itself is a beautiful new road course that is now one of the races on the Moto GP calender, check it out. ...Published on 12-31-2010 07:08 PM
This is a feel good piece from BMW giving a short overview of videos from 2010 and some pretty nice shots overall. Yes, it is a promotional piece for BMW TV but it is a nice way to wrap up 2010. Happy New Year everybody, thanks for a great 2010, and here is to an amazing 2011! ...Published on 12-31-2010 05:43 PM
BMW was apparently doing a photoshoot with their new "supercar" (we use the term loosely) when photographers happened to be at the right place at the right time and snapped some photos of the very production looking car. There also are rumors floating around that the name is now the i8, which is a lot easier to type than Vision Efficient Dynamics. The car does look very, very good in this trim and we do not hope much changes with the styling by the time it arrives on the market. ...Published on 12-30-2010 09:06 PM
Diesel performance is something we think is going to gain significant ground over the next few years. With an ever increasing focus on efficiency and going "green" we think the American public will embrace diesels like never before. In the European market, diesels already account for the majority of the sales for BMW and Mercedes-Benz. These motors are slow to make their way over but cars like the E350 Bluetec show that diesels have come a long way. The Benz diesel is not quite as quick as the competition but still a great offering. Results below: ...Published on 12-29-2010 09:27 PM
Is this the 2012 C63 AMG? We don't know, but the photo has been circulating the web and has everyone talking. You can see a few subtle changes in the styling but the main question on the mind of everyone is if the motor will change. We say do not get too excited as there is no official confirmation of any of the speculation at the moment.

This E36 M3 definitely caught our attention. Over 600 whp on pump gas? Yes, that caught our eye. This is a built motor running at 8.5:1 compresison with Bavarian Solutions Stage I turbo cams. This is running a CES/Maximum PSI turbo kit built around a Precision 6765R. Oh, and did we mention stock heads and tuned on the stock DME? Impressive, very impressive, full specs as follows: ...Published on 12-28-2010 04:15 PM
Glad to see this video from someone who gets how BMW cut corners on this car.

Auto Motor Und Sport, the German magazine, put up their rendering of the new W205 C-Class. What do we think? We like their interpretation of the new C. The headlights reflect the direction Mercedes is currently going although we do not know about the rear, it kind of reminds us of an Audi. It is just a rendering and the final product will likely be much different, so take it as such. ...Published on 12-28-2010 03:54 PM
On January 14, 2011 Mercedes will enter three SLS GT3's in the 24 hour race in Dubai as a final testing phase of the SLS GT3. Two private customer teams will be fielding the cars, Heico Motorsport and Black Falcon. Over 90 cars are expected to be features at the race which will be held at the Dubai Autodrome Grand Prix Circuit. We will let you know how the $440,000 Mercedes race car does. ...Published on 12-27-2010 10:54 PM
If you plan on doing this (like you have an SLS) please close the doors. At least the driver wore a helmet though, right? ...Published on 12-27-2010 10:18 PM
Surprisingly, the M56 puts up a pretty good fight and Insideline criticizes the new 5 series as being too soft and removed without the driver connection BMW's are known for. We have been hearing this a lot about the new 5 series. They still pick the 550i over the Infiniti but say the 5 series has slipped. We wish they gave us the full 1/4 mile numbers from the strip as well. ...Published on 12-27-2010 10:18 PM

Prior Design has released their body pieces and wheels for the new E-class coupe. A more aggressive front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts are included. They have two spoilers as well one for the roof and one for the bootlid. The vehicle is also lowered by 35mm. Prior Design 20 inch rims complete the look although the rims seem a bit gaudy to us. Pricing is as follows: ...Published on 12-27-2010 07:05 PM

MHP v3 CDT has proven itself at the track, on the dyno and on the street to be the most potent remapping available for AMG M156/M159 variants. Gains are 65-70rwhp/30-35rwtq SAE on 93 octane, 5th gear, 1:1, DJ. ...Published on 12-26-2010 06:25 PM
Here we have a teaser video of a supercharged M156 V8 on he C63 AMG. There has been a lot of discussion of this not being possible and extremely difficult to excute. So far, it seems Weistec has been able to get the hardware down using a 2.3 liter twin screw supercharger. We do not know what boost they are running (likely somewhere in the 6-7 psi range if on pump) and we do not know the cost or even who is doing the tuning. More on this as it develops but we are glad to see this is being attempted and development is moving along. ...Published on 12-25-2010 04:23 PM
This M3 of mine continues to impress me. The S65 engine and DCT are just amazing! I think the DCT impresses me the most since it's been able to handle every bit of power that I throw at it without slipping.
The cold weather in the Southeast has enabled me to achieve some great 60-130 mph times this week. I'll start with the results of the ESS VT2-600 supercharger only run (no nitrous). 27F / full weight / 93 octane.
