Duke Dynamics has released a more aggressive version of their diffuser for the Mtech E92 models. The new version has longer and sharper fins. This fits directly onto the factory rear Mtech bumper, no modification required, simply screws in. The finish is 1x1 carbon fiber look. Pricing is set at $250. ...Published on 03-06-2011 08:01 PM
We have heard this rumor about the Audi R5 before. It was supposed to be a mid-engine car based on the e-tron concept but latest details seem to be showing a front engine 2 seat sports car. The car strikes as similar to the Quattro concept and this may be how Audi intends to bring that vision forward. If this does turn out to be true and in motion expect a lightweight 2 seat AWD sports car with over 400 horsepower from the TT-RS inline 5. ...Published on 03-06-2011 06:43 PM
Here is an "interesting" video where Chris Bangle talks about supercar design. We definitely agree with what he says about innovation and how a supercar is more than just something that is incredibly fast. He makes some good points but then sort of loses us when he starts ranting about how Ferrari vs. Lamborghini design is like giving a car to your wife or mistress. It's interesting stuff nonetheless. ...Published on 03-06-2011 06:17 PM
The C63 AMG coupe specs have been leaked online and it will retain the M156 V8 from the sedan as we reported earlier. The information was posted in the Mercedes system in the Netherlands and somehow leaked out which we don't mind. The drivetrain and other specifications will pretty much mirror the sedan which leads us to believe we will also see a P31 package for the coupe. Full specs are below: ...Published on 03-06-2011 03:01 AM
This latest F01 7 series package comes from the Swiss subsidiary of Mansory. As is customary these days, the modified front bumper incorporates LED's. You will also notice the carbon kidney grilles. A custom rear bumper is included to fit the unique Mansory take on the exhaust. Roof and trunk spoilers complete the appearance package. There also seems to be a camera in the drivers side kidney grille. No details on any engine tuning or horsepower gains from the exhaust have been released. ...Published on 03-06-2011 02:25 AM
Now this is what we call art. This suspended vehicle display, called View Suspended II, has been unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz World located in Surrey, UK. A Dutch artist by the name of Paul Veroude put it together, no small feat considering the over 3200 parts that hang individually. If you have ever wanted to see just how many things go into an F1 car, here you are. Obviously even high resolution photos do not do this display proper justice. ...Published on 03-05-2011 10:06 PM
Here is the second teaser video from BMW for the new M5 (that was fast, huh?). This video shows a few clips of the new M5 in the snow and Dr. Kay Segler tells us that he knows we are all waiting for it, he must be a prophet of some kind. No details are given and really the purpose of the video is to drive traffic to BMW's M-power.com website, but hey, enjoy the second of what will no doubt be a long string of teasers. ...Published on 03-04-2011 04:00 AM
When the new A8 was released, we all knew an S8 model was going to follow shortly. We can see that model here spotted in a final testing phase with basically no disguise. The quad pipes in back give it away as well as the testing gear attached to it. As we reported last month, the S8 will get a twin turbo 4.0 V8 with about 520 horsepower. This should make it a nice rival for the Mercedes S63 AMG as well as the Alpina B7. ...Published on 03-04-2011 04:00 AM
SpeedDriven has released their Mercedes 600 V12 twin turbo upgrade package. This offers 750+ horsepower on 91 octane and takes cars on 93+ to over 800 horsepower. The 93 octane settings offer up almost 940 pound-feet of torque, yes, whoa. The package features a set of their upgraded billet turbos, top-mounted water to air intercoolers, air intakes, and of course their tune. Check out the dyno and pictures below although based on the 611 whp peak of the dyno their crank horsepower claims seem to be a bit exaggerated. ...Published on 03-03-2011 02:52 PM
Here is another rendering of the M6 Cab. We did these a while back but hey, nice to have a new rendering. This one is done by JonSibal for LeftLanenews and as Sibals (pricey) work typically is, the design is well executed. Would have liked to see the rear as well but we will take what we can get. ...Published on 03-03-2011 04:00 AM
ABT Sportline showed off their R8 offering at the Geneva car show. In both cars the V10 gets boosted to 620 horsepower through tuning and a full exhaust system. The GT R is the coupe and the GT S is the spyder. Both get similar body kits with carbon accents as well as a set of 19 or 20 inch ABT wheels. The GT R is 220 pounds lighter than the stock coupe and only limited to 25 units. Custom interior options are also available as the color matched GT S shows. ...Published on 03-03-2011 04:00 AM
Renntech has released their add-on spoiler for the R230 Mercedes SL. The image shown here is of the prototype, the finished product will be a Pre-Preg carbon fiber piece. Renntech states that Pre-Preg is the highest quality carbon fiber production process. We do not know if this is true or not but do not doubt them. This spoiler will fit all R230 SL's from 2003-2011 and production starts in 6 weeks. ...Published on 03-02-2011 06:05 PM
Here we have a great video comparison of a stock C63 and a stock P31 C63 running each other. Both cars are 100% stock on 91 pump gas. Later on in the video, the stock C63 runs a tune by OE Tuning which the outcome has both cars equal. This goes to show that a P31 car is as fast a standard C63 with tune making for an impressive factory package. ...Published on 03-02-2011 04:13 PM
Carlsson has taken an SL65 AMG and modified it extensively. The main difference here is the carbon roof which lightens the car tremendously by ditching the folding hard top and associated motors. Carlsson says this is going to be an extremely rare vehicle with only one sold per country which is kind of odd. Yes, it's nice, but it still is just a modified SL. Only 25 will be produced so looks like only 25 countries are getting these. At 430,000 Euros a pop that is probably a good thing. ...Published on 03-02-2011 04:00 PM
AC Schnitzer premiered their new 5 series at Geneva. The ACS 5 Sport S as they call it is based on the F10 550i. To reach 540 horsepower the car gets a tune along with a full exhaust. Body modifications include a front spoiler, chrome grille, modified fenders, sideskirts, and rear spoiler and diffuser to fit the exhaust. AC Schnitzer adds 8 piston front and rear brakes as well. The fenders seem pretty tacky honestly and the entire package just doesn't seem to flow all that well. Enjoy the pics: ...Published on 03-02-2011 11:34 AM
BMW showed the Vision ConnectedDrive (which was already revealed earlier on the web) in the flesh at Geneva 2011. The lead designer stated the futuristic lines were played down for this concept (really?) and instead the focus is on technology. So what technology is in it? There is a dashboard LCD for the passenger side. There is also a heads up display that projects in 3D. There is a built in browser that can do things like automatically download playlists. So, great, BMW built and Ipad with wheels. No one seems to be focusing on what is under the hood or what the actual specs are supposed to be and BMW completely ignored that part and for the most part we will ignore this due to that. Check out the video of it at the Geneva show below. ...Published on 03-02-2011 04:00 AM
Mansory kits are usually pretty overdone and pretty overpriced but we can live with this one. The reason being that it is functional and the function it serves is to lower the weight of the car by almost 200 pounds. The carbon pieces don't just stop at the exterior with the engine bay and the interior also getting the carbon treatment. How much for the kit, wheels, and interior? Pricing has not been announced, which is a good thing as we don't want to cry about not being able to afford it. ...Published on 03-02-2011 04:00 AM
Underground Racing's Tuner has announced that UGR is wrapping up the first V10 Twin Turbo R8. They are expecting 1000 whp on pump gas which is just stupid power, stupid good. This is the Stage 3 and specifications will be out soon. This being Stage 3 and 1000 whp on pump this means built motor. Pricing should be inline with the the Gallardo V10 built motor setups. Tuning is done by John Reed through a Motec standalone. ...Published on 03-01-2011 03:11 PM
Brabus has once again pulled off what few others, if anyone else, could. They unveilved a twin turbo SLS they built at Geneva. This is not a motor swap but a twin turbo setup on the M156 V8 with compression dropped down to 9.0:1 with forged pistons/internals. Custom manifolds feed two turbos they somehow got to fit neatly. Torque is raised up to 626 pound-feet which is far beyond the torque limits in the factory transmission. This does use the DCT transmission so how they did this is beyond us as our tuners tell us no one has been able to exceed these limits. It seems Brabus has made the impossible, possible. ...Published on 03-01-2011 01:24 PM
This is barely news worthy as it really shows nothing but we have to cover it. BMW released their first video teaser for the new M5 which shows it quickly speed by. We are sure BMW is going to hype it with teasers like this until the official reveal just like they did with the 1M coupe. We would trade all these teasers in for a heartbeat to know what the specs are, which is what BMW should be using to build interest not little fly-by videos. ...
