The Mercedes SLS AMG in stock form is a beautiful car, difficult to improve on. Sometimes less is more and we think this is a good example. We do not understand why they modified the front in this manner that just gives the car a gaping hole up front. The rear seems to be ok even though the tiny tips seem out of place. A Chinese autoblog has posted pictures of the interior of the M5 concept. Nothing ground breaking here, looks pretty much like a standard F10. Differences being the M style tach, M stitching on the steering wheel, and alcantara on the door with some exposed stitching. The cloth doors don't look all that luxurious. As reported a few days ago, the E63 AMG will get the M157 turbo V8 motor. We know have more photos of the car and it simply is beautiful. From the front LED's to the gorgeous side profile this is truly one of the premier sedans on the market. Great news for US enthusiasts although not all that shocking. MotorAuthority reports from the New York Auto Show that Audi confirms the new S6, S7, and S8 will come to the US. These cars all use the same drivetrain so not difficult for Audi to pull off. Good news, we want them, but the real question mark will be if Audi will be able to deliver the RS derivatives as this is where they have struggled in past years with the US market. This is very cool and we wish more tuners did this. AWE has released everything you need to run 11's with MK6 GTI. The 11 second K04 turbo package is $5,395. The tire and wheels package for the strip is offered with Enkei wheels and Hoosier drag radials for a very reasonable $820. Here is another e-tron concept from Audi that is a plug-in hybrid which seems to be all the rage these days. This car is based on the A3 sedan concept revealed earlier this year. The car has a 1.4 liter turbo four cylinder putting out 211 horsepower and this is combined with a 27 horsepower electric motor for a total of 238. A 7 speed DSG is the transmission of choice. This would be a relatively sporty and green car if it wasn't for the weight penalty of the battery and electric motor adding almost 400 pounds for a total of 3,792. ...Published on 04-20-2011 09:43 PM
In the previous weeks we brought you the details on the DCT oil pan upgrade and the pictures of the machining process. We are happy to say the final design has been completed and here are the pictures of the finished product. Once again, this will allow 2 additional liters of fluid as well as the capability to connect to an external cooling source as you can see from the openings. We are all waiting on Mercedes to reveal the new ML but we received at least a piece of the puzzle today. Dutch auto spy photographers snapped some pics of an ML testing with an exposed rear. Some will say this guy is a poser, and that may be warranted, but you have to respect the work that went into this recreation. Sure, this car won't have the power, motor, suspension, lightweight parts, brakes, and we could go on, but it looks strikingly similar to the real thing. The body conversion cost about $20,000. The new ML is coming folks and with it a new ML AMG. In case you had any doubts about the motor being the M157 this motor should alleviate them as it does not sound like an M156 and instead more like a muffled V8, one likely being muffled by two turbos. The powertrain will no doubt mirror the other new 63 models but that is no surprise. What is a surprise is just how fast the new ML63 looks and how flat it corners. The 11 second supercharged V8 Audi's just keep coming. This is particularly interesting in how it stacks up to the APR B8 S5 that recently ran 11's. Unlike the APR setup, the JH Motorsports supercharger is a centrifugal Vortech based system. The car has a Stage 1 system at 6 psi, JHM tune, JHM headers, JHM manifold, JHM lightweight flywheel, JHM Stage 4 clutch, JHM intake spacers, JHM exhaust, JHM short shift kit, and JHM lightweight rotors. Based on a scene in the movie, Autotopias organized a competition based around having a getaway vehicle that would do well in a heist similar to what the actors in the movie needed to pull off. When I got my N54 and decided to tune it, one of the first things I needed was a boost gauge. Since the N54 meters pre throttle body, it becomes that much more important to know real boost values. I wanted an integrated setup that didn't look like a pod sitting on my dash at the time and the P3 (originally RiX vent gauge) was a perfect fit. It was sleek, OEM, and very stealthy. This is the 210 horsepower turbo 4 cylinder concept A-class, and we love it. The styling is aggressive and futuristic. The drivetrain choices are great with a turbo 4 and a dual clutch transmission. The thing looks like it should be much higher than just an entry level Mercedes. Will they actually build it? The car here is a W203 C230 C-Class. The car has an M272 E25 (2.5 liter) V6 stock which puts out 201 horsepower. The motor isn't a powerhouse but OE Tuning extracted more power out of it with gains of just about 9 horsepower at the wheels and 10 pound-feet at the wheels on 91 octane pump. HPF has been marketing their new setups aimed at getting better launches at the strip pretty heavily as of late. Chris, the owner, took the HPF M3 to the drag strip to test out the "anti-lag" setup which allows boost to be built at the line. The car allegedly hit 1.55 and we use that term because no slips were posted. We are not doubting it, but HPF (and others) need to get in the habit of posting timeslips when making such claims. There have been a lot of accusations flying around from various tuners as of late. A lot of it has concerned Powerchip and OE Tuning which is no secret to anyone. Well, there were accusations on another board that OE Tuning had been called out to a dyno comparison and it just kind of turned into a mess. We do not need to remind you that a previous shootout was scheduled in which these parties agreed to participate, so it seems neither is scared of the other. Well, we knew sooner or later the E-class would get the new twin turbo M157 V8 motor. Seems Mercedes went with sooner as in the next few months the E63 will dropping the M156 naturally aspirated V8 for the twin turbo motor. There is classy modification and then there is... this. This "Mercedes" is for sale on Ebay apparentl, and we were just amazed that someone subjected this poor car to these tasteless modifications leading to a very confused vehicle. Audi style headlights? Lamborghini style doors? SLR style rims? A Ferrari license plate frame? It's painful to see. ...
