The R8 is a beautiful car to begin with so it is hard to improve. RENM tackled the V10 spyder and we like what we see although it seems to borrow some cues from the Sport Wheels R8 spyder. What stands out is the center exit exhaust with custom diffuser in particular. In addition to the bodywork hydraulic suspension that raises is added. The motor is modified with custom tuning, full exhaust, and intake work. Power is raised to about 600 horsepower. ...Published on 04-25-2011 10:11 PM
As many of you know, we attempted to get an M3 tuner shootout going. This is now the second time we have tried and it won't be taking place. Why? Tuners aren't interested in putting their products up against one another in a third party environment. Too large of a risk for them and most tuners prefer to battle it out through marketing on forums, not with real results. ...Published on 04-25-2011 08:52 PM
We have seen a lot of back and forth regarding the C63 Black Series motor. Will it have the M157 twin turbo V8? Will it get the M156? Well, an e-mail has gone out to a select few sources suggesting the M156 is confirmed. It is said to have 507 horsepower, exactly what the CLK63 Black Series had. Mercedes has not confirmed this but all sites reporting are pointing toward an M156 derivative now with some saying internal sources have confirmed this. We would have liked the M157, but we will reserve judgement until we see the final product. ...Published on 04-25-2011 05:33 PM
Mfest has come and gone. We have compiled some of our favorite pictures from the event to give those who could not attend an idea of what they missed and what to expect. There also seemed to be an accident at the event and just a word of warning, when traveling in a caravan give the car in front plenty of room. ...Published on 04-25-2011 02:13 AM
So, we have some differing results. A couple days ago we reported the DCT and manual M3 was found to be quicker around the Contidrom circuit by Auto Bild. Auto Motor Und Sport now reports that around Hockenheim they achieved a quicker time in the 1M Coupe vs. the M3. Interesting? Yes, but they were not tested on the same day which can easily sway results that are as close as differing by 1/10. Longer courses should favor the M3, tighter the 1M. Interesting indeed, laptimes by Auto Motor Und Sport around Hockenheim for several cars listed below. ...Published on 04-23-2011 05:07 AM
The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster is coming very, very soon. We have seen it testing for a while in camo which is kind of funny considering the SLS coupe is on the market already. Anyway, here are photos of it undisguised. We prefer the coupe the coupe, there is something special about the gullwing doors that this roadster just can't match. ...Published on 04-22-2011 07:05 PM
AutoBild has done a comparison between the 1M Coupe and the Porsche Cayman R. AutoBild picks the 1M coupe over the Cayman R mostly do to its daily livability. That's fine, but we are performance enthusiasts here and the Cayman R thoroughly outperformed it. They take these cars on the Contidrom course which is a fairly tight/technical and the 1M was over a second slower. What is interesting is the AutoBild times for the M3 and DCT M3 are both faster than the 1M. The DCT M3 also is 3/10's faster than the 6-speed showing how the DCT shift times add up to make a substantial difference. ...Published on 04-22-2011 03:29 PM
If reading the UK-based Max Power magazine is a guilty pleasure most of us enjoyed a decade ago, reading the Greek version of Max Power is an absolute cardinal sin. The Greek Max Power has everything every teenaged car nut could want- more girls, more absurd cars, and more street racing.
When Max Power Greece asked us to shoot a Martin’s M3 for a full feature, we naturally agreed with a grin. ...Published on 04-21-2011 11:32 PM
WOW! The records just keep up on falling. Here is the first C63 AMG to break into the 10.3 range setting a new quickest 1/4 mile record in the process. By now everyone should be familiar with Keith's C63 (goes by the name DadsC63). Car has MHP modifications and nitrous. To be noted, this pass would done Bradenton Motorsports Park which is in Florida. This could very well have been a new overall Mercedes record at MIR. Congratulations to DadsC63 and MHP, more details to come, stay tuned. ...What does CNC machining look like? Click to see video of a billet DCT pan being made for BimmerBoost

What is CNC machining? CNC stands for computer numerical control and you see this term used often in the aftermarket automotive industry. Basically, a computer is used to design the product and this design is fed to a computer that tells the machine what to do. In this case, create a DCT oil pan out of a solid block of billet aluminum. Check out the video of the process below. ...Published on 04-21-2011 08:29 AM
The Mercedes SLS AMG in stock form is a beautiful car, difficult to improve on. Sometimes less is more and we think this is a good example. We do not understand why they modified the front in this manner that just gives the car a gaping hole up front. The rear seems to be ok even though the tiny tips seem out of place. This car just does not seem to work, sometimes a drop and some rims are all a car needs. ...Published on 04-21-2011 07:53 AM
A Chinese autoblog has posted pictures of the interior of the M5 concept. Nothing ground breaking here, looks pretty much like a standard F10. Differences being the M style tach, M stitching on the steering wheel, and alcantara on the door with some exposed stitching. The cloth doors don't look all that luxurious. Compare this to the recently revealed 2012 E63 AMG and see what you like better. ...Published on 04-21-2011 07:14 AM
As reported a few days ago, the E63 AMG will get the M157 turbo V8 motor. We know have more photos of the car and it simply is beautiful. From the front LED's to the gorgeous side profile this is truly one of the premier sedans on the market. The shifter we find a bit odd looking but other than that, gorgeous car inside and out. ...Published on 04-21-2011 07:01 AM
Great news for US enthusiasts although not all that shocking. MotorAuthority reports from the New York Auto Show that Audi confirms the new S6, S7, and S8 will come to the US. These cars all use the same drivetrain so not difficult for Audi to pull off. Good news, we want them, but the real question mark will be if Audi will be able to deliver the RS derivatives as this is where they have struggled in past years with the US market. As a reminder, we have posted the leaked specs for these models below. ...Published on 04-21-2011 04:54 AM
This is very cool and we wish more tuners did this. AWE has released everything you need to run 11's with MK6 GTI. The 11 second K04 turbo package is $5,395. The tire and wheels package for the strip is offered with Enkei wheels and Hoosier drag radials for a very reasonable $820. A BBK setup and coilovers are also offered on the 11 second page you can check out here. Very cool AWE, very cool indeed. ...Published on 04-21-2011 01:23 AM
Here is another e-tron concept from Audi that is a plug-in hybrid which seems to be all the rage these days. This car is based on the A3 sedan concept revealed earlier this year. The car has a 1.4 liter turbo four cylinder putting out 211 horsepower and this is combined with a 27 horsepower electric motor for a total of 238. A 7 speed DSG is the transmission of choice. This would be a relatively sporty and green car if it wasn't for the weight penalty of the battery and electric motor adding almost 400 pounds for a total of 3,792. ...Published on 04-20-2011 09:43 PM
In the previous weeks we brought you the details on the DCT oil pan upgrade and the pictures of the machining process. We are happy to say the final design has been completed and here are the pictures of the finished product. Once again, this will allow 2 additional liters of fluid as well as the capability to connect to an external cooling source as you can see from the openings. Pricing details for the complete DCT cooling kit as well as components will be coming next, stay tuned. ...Published on 04-20-2011 10:23 AM
We are all waiting on Mercedes to reveal the new ML but we received at least a piece of the puzzle today. Dutch auto spy photographers snapped some pics of an ML testing with an exposed rear. We now have an idea of what the rear lights and shape will look like. Looks pretty ordinary actually, restrained styling. ...Published on 04-20-2011 07:21 AM
Some will say this guy is a poser, and that may be warranted, but you have to respect the work that went into this recreation. Sure, this car won't have the power, motor, suspension, lightweight parts, brakes, and we could go on, but it looks strikingly similar to the real thing. The body conversion cost about $20,000. The video below depicts the conversion but the first half is just filler with pictures. Skip to the 3:37 mark to see the actual conversion process. ...Published on 04-20-2011 06:03 AM
The new ML is coming folks and with it a new ML AMG. In case you had any doubts about the motor being the M157 this motor should alleviate them as it does not sound like an M156 and instead more like a muffled V8, one likely being muffled by two turbos. The powertrain will no doubt mirror the other new 63 models but that is no surprise. What is a surprise is just how fast the new ML63 looks and how flat it corners. The performance SUV segment is heating up. ...
