TPC has had some impressive turbo kits out for the Boxster and Cayman but they have now started doing lower compression forged internal turbo motor builds as well. The motor started as a 3.4 liter which was sleeved then bored to accommodate 10.0:1 compression forged pistons. With the new pistons (100 mm bore vs. standard 97 mm) displacement is 3.7 liters and horsepower gained from the baseline is just under 200 at the wheels. With boost raised some more getting into the 500 whp range seems possible. ...Published on 06-11-2011 12:31 AM
The new E coupe is a beautiful car but is lacking in aggression. Normally that is solved with the AMG version but there currently is not an AMG version of the E Coupe. No problem, Revosport has released their take on an aggressive AMG style body kit for the E-coupe. The parts offered include a front bumper with splitter, carbon roof spoiler, carbon trunk spoiler, carbon mirror covers, and a carbon rear diffuser. The parts add a nice hint of aggression without being too over the top. ...Published on 06-10-2011 07:22 AM
Excellent work by BMW Motorsport. BMW has taken the first two races in ALMS and seems poised to continue their strong season at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend. The pole setting time of 3:57.292 was set by Augusto Farfus. Ferrari qualified in second place with their 458 race car and the top four positions are BMW, Ferrari, BMW, and Chevrolet in the Corvette C6R. Audi took the overall pole, top ten qualifying times for GTE are listed below. ...Published on 06-10-2011 06:58 AM
After a tough battle in qualifying Audi took the pole as well as the second spot for th 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP1 class. The Peugeot 908's took 3rd, 4th, and 6th place. The final Audi R18 (three cars total) took 5th place. The cars are all very close with the pole setting Audi R18 TDI just over 2/10's ahead of the Peugeot 908 starting in 3rd. The battle for overall supremacy at Le Mans is set to be epic. ...Published on 06-10-2011 04:01 AM
This rendering from AutoBild is the best we have seen thus far. What strikes us is how the next generation won't be a radical departure from the E90. More subtle evolution than revolution. We will see more variants this generation with designations from F30 to F35. It would seem BMW is splitting the coupes away from the 3 series and moving them to the 4 series. Will coupes be even numbers and sedans odd? Sure is looking that way. ...Published on 06-10-2011 02:50 AM
AutoBild reports that the entry level SLC will come standard with a 350 horsepower V6 that is turbocharged. That horsepower numbers seems a little low to us and the report also says the power might go as high as 550 horsepower. Well, in that case, wouldn't they use the turbo V8 they already have? The car will not have Gulllwing doors and that is the part of the report we find most believable. ...Published on 06-10-2011 02:50 AM
Unless you have been living under a rock, you know one of the greatest events in motorsport, the 24 hours of Le Mans, takes place this weekend. Now the circuit itself in the race configuration is not something you can really drive on since public roads do make it up. The roads are open to the public most of the year but shut down for the race. The circuit has evolved over the years and this video gives you an idea what it is like. As usual, the Autocar presenter is a boring/lifeless Brit but there are some good tidbits of info. ...Published on 06-09-2011 07:40 AM
I would hope everyone knows by now that LeMans is coming up, right? This is the big race for Audi and the major event on the Audi Motorsport calender. Audi has dominated the race and has a new race car for this year, the R18 TDI. Rulebook changes meant that Audi had to switch to a 3.7 liter turbo-diesel motor vs. the large V10 they were running previously. The new motor is lighter, more fuel efficient, yet puts out 575 horsepower. Lemans is going to be quite the battleground, check out the video. ...Published on 06-09-2011 07:12 AM
Now this is a commercial! BMW Canada is shows off the 1M and some fancy driving by having a talented driver go straight through as well as slide through concrete walls cutout to the 1M's shape. It's a great video and it is nice to see BMW doing aggressive commercials again instead of the pansy JOY crap. This is Part 1 inferring we may get another video soon and if it is as good as this one we can't wait. Well done BMW Canada! ...Published on 06-09-2011 02:38 AM
This run file has been verified and there is a video accompanying it. This turbo E46 M3 belongs to a controversial member but we are just going to focus on the record and details. The car was run at about 26 psi also with nitrous we believe. Redline has been raised to 9000 rpm. Owner has not provided the full specs but this is a built motor with two GT3076 turbos. Whatever the exact specs are, there is no denying this is a very fast car. ...Published on 06-07-2011 09:37 PM
Here it is, officially, the new ML. We showed you leaked photos a couple days ago but the photo quality was not that good. Here are some high quality photos as well as additional details. The ML shares its platform with the new Jeep Cherokee (that Daimler/Chrysler thing still rearing its ugly head). There are two diesel options, not sure if both will make it to the USA. ...Published on 06-07-2011 08:52 PM
This car was tuned in Massachussets by OE Tuning dealer Brentuning. The car is completely stock on 93 octane fuel. Solid gains through the curve of 15 wheel horsepower and 18 wheel torque are seen. This dyno is a dynapack, which is a hub dyno. There is a visible torque dip at 5000 rpm which we are not sure what to attribute to and will try to get further details on. ...Published on 06-07-2011 06:42 AM
The Unimog is cool in a lot of ways. Big trucks are just plain cool and Mercedes making one for 60 years is cool in of itself. Here is a modern take on the 1951 Unimog. It is an open cabin design, just like the original. This concept is based on a modern chassis with modified suspension and some giant wheels. The color was inspired by the green poison dart frog. It's different, it's attention grabbing, and we like it. ...Published on 06-07-2011 02:30 AM
Ok, Audi, come on now. A few days back we reported that Audi was in some hot water for "sampling" Eminem's music and mimicking aspects of the Chrysler Imported from Detroit ad. An Audi representative has responded to a lawsuit filed by the music publisher by claiming that the ad is not an advertisement. Huh? We aren't making it up, an Audi representative stated, "The video referred to is not an advertisement." Good luck with that guys. ...Published on 06-06-2011 07:46 PM
We already showed you the rear of the new ML but thanks to a German brochure we have now have pictures of the final and complete design. The pictures aren't the highest quality scans, but they show enough. The design is hardly ground breaking, pretty mild actually. The major difference seems to be the interior which is markedly improved. Expect an official reveal at Frankfurt. ...Published on 06-06-2011 07:00 AM
The design of the new F20 1 series is controversial, to say the least. BMW has made plenty of controversial styling decisions over the past decade so I suppose we should not be surprised. However, what is interesting with this car is that an amateur designer released his view of a facelift to improve the car and it's amazing how much these small changes improve the look. Take a look at the before and after photos here and wonder why the BMW designers did not take the same direction. ...Published on 06-06-2011 06:00 AM
Audi driver Martin Tomczyk won the race managed to hold off Ralf Schumacher. Tomczyk started on the pole and used it to his advantage continually increasing his lead over the field. Audi took 1st and 3rd with Schumacher in 2nd for Mercedes. Mercedes still maintains the manufacturer standing in 1st place with a slight edge. ...Published on 06-06-2011 05:52 AM
The younger Schumacher continues to do well in DTM. Hey, at least one Schumacher is getting on the podium for Mercedes, right? A total of 6 Mercedes drivers finished in the top 10 but Audi took their second victory, making it 2-1 in their favor thus far in the season. Mercedes does still lead the driver and team standings but it's very tight, as DTM should be. ...Published on 06-06-2011 02:46 AM
Well, the weekend did not go well for Tom Coronel as he crashed in Race 1 finishing last. However, two of the other BMW 320 TC cars finished in 2nd and 3rd in race 1. In race 2, Coronel was the top BMW in 4th place. The Chevy Cruze continues to dominate winning both races. The next race in June 15th in the Czech Republic. Just bad luck for Coronel crashing and then overheating. ...
