E-Tron, G-Tron, Audi just keeps coming up with the funky names for its alternative fuel vehicles. This latest vehicle is the A3 G-Tron which uses something Audi calls e-gas. What is e-gas? Well, Audi uses an electrical current to split water into its components (hydrogen and oxygen). This is what is done to produce fuel for hydrogen fuel cell cars but Audi mixes in carbon dioxide to create a sort of synthetic methane. This results in synthetic compressed natural gas. ...Published on 03-04-2013 04:00 PM
Here it is at last, the king of the naturally aspirated race bred 911 crop. Yes, the brand spanking new 2014 991 GT3. As previously reported the PDK and 9000 RPM info was on the money. Horsepower is slightly more than expected out of the new 3.8 liter motor with 475 horsepower. Porsche claims with the PDK transmission and new found power compared to the 997.2 GT3 which also had a 3.8 liter flat-6 but with 435 horses that the new 991 GT3 is an incredible 6/10's quicker 0-60. ...Published on 03-04-2013 04:20 AM
Yet another great video from the No Fly Zone event (expect a whole lot of race videos to be posted throughout this week). Strong Mustang here running a Paxton 2200SL supercharger through the stock exhaust system with a 6-speed manual transmission. This Mustang is said to be putting down in the ~600 wheel horsepower range and also was able to dispatch a Weistec Stage II supercharged W204 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. ...Published on 03-04-2013 02:55 AM
A drag race between these two rear wheel drive cars in the wet just seems kind of dumb as well as dangerous. The both really need a dry launch to show what they are capable of. Regardless, the weather is what it is and it's nice to see the new F13 M6 in action against a rare car like the 997 GT3 RS 4.0. The Porsche is able to eek out a slight lead despite feathering the throttle (likely thanks to its significant weight advantage of almost 1000 pounds). ...Published on 03-04-2013 01:16 AM
Interesting race here from the No Fly Zone event this past weekend. The Mustang is a 2013 model with the 5.0 V8 and is a 6-speed. It has the stock exhaust and features a Paxton 2200SL supercharger. The owner of the Mustang says he was likely close to the 600 wheel horsepower mark. Compare this to the Weistec Stage II which puts out 538 wheel horsepower on 91 octane from a 2.3 liter twin screw blower and the result makes sense. ...Published on 03-04-2013 12:12 AM
Here it is, the new Golf MKVII wagon which was leaked out early on the internet before its official debut at the Geneva auto show this week. These days cars tend to simply leak out early before the automaker shows them at an auto show and once the picture shit the internet, well, it's game over. Only photos are available with no technical specs but the wagon definitely looks good. Will VW bring it to the USA? That's anyone's guess. ...Published on 03-03-2013 11:34 PM
Two simply awesome race videos here from the past weekend at the No Fly Zone event. The 335i in the video is a 6-speed manual with Rob Beck turbos and a Burger Motorsports Juice Box 4 G5 ISO. It also has full bolt ons including downpipes, FMIC, and presumably meth injection. The 458 Italia appears to be stock. What makes this race impressive is how the 335 does being a 6-speed manual going against the quick shifting dual clutch transmission in the 458. ...Published on 03-03-2013 10:41 PM
After seeing the excellent 2013 Audi R8 V10 plus dyno pull video here is another vehicle of this model this time in real world action. MotorSport Magazine France was able to do a launch control test all the way up to 300 km/h (186 miles per hour). The car flat out flies to 160 km/h or 100 miles per hour and then charges quickly and steadily to 300 km/h. It does slow a bit past the 260 km/h range but that is to be expected. ...Published on 03-02-2013 10:00 PM
GermanBoost.com is happy to report that the No Fly Zone private airstrip roll on race event was a resounding success. A lot of serious hardware showed up and Tony from Omega Motorsport Events did an excellent job organizing everything. Everyone knew where to go and what to do. The pictures below showcase what was there and how things looked quite well. Yes, everyone wants race videos and those will all be coming shortly and will be posted throughout the week. ...Published on 03-01-2013 06:12 PM
The current F01 7-Series still looks absolutely fantastic but BMW is already testing its successor. Things move pretty quickly in the automotive world these days and with the next generation W222 S-Class set to debut this year BMW is preparing to compete with it so the never ending game of one-upmanship will just continue. The car you see is heavily camouflaged so it is tough to gauge where BMW is going with its styling language but one thing is certain, the cars are not getting smaller. ...Published on 03-01-2013 04:41 PM
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is no slouch. The 4.0 liter flat-6 puts out an absolutely incredible 457 wheel horsepower stock and does so naturally aspirated as in no forced induction. The Nissan GTR of course having two turbos on its 3.8 liter V6. On paper with the GT3 RS 4.0's weight advantage of just over 800 pounds should make this an interesting race despite the torque advantage of the GTR as well as its quick shifting dual clutch transmission. ...Published on 03-01-2013 04:00 PM
This is a hell of a trailer for a car. Simply take off the bumper, pop the mid-engine hood, and show it doing an acceleration sprint on the dyno. Obviously, the high revving 5.2 liter direct injected V10 sounds glorious with all 542 horses galloping. The new dual clutch S-Tronic transmission for the facelift completes shifts in blazingly quick fashion. With the bumper removed one is able to also see the cats off the manifold heat up and the car shoot flames. ...Published on 03-01-2013 12:27 AM

Here is the blower that will be used for the 3.0 TFSI Stage III supercharger upgrade from APR, the Eaton TVS 1740. This is a new blower designed to slot in between TVS1320 and TVS1900. The B8 RS4, RS5, and R8 with the 4.2 FSI will also have this supercharger available as an option from APR. APR has been working with this blower for the past 12 months getting it right and chose it due to having to deal with packaging constraints. ...Published on 02-28-2013 11:20 PM
This recall affects 2012-2013 Porsche 991 generation 911 models but only those built from March 7, 2012 until November 12, 2012. If you own a 2012-2013 991 please call your dealer immediately to see if you are affected. The exhaust pipe issue is that the piping will fail or fracture causing the pipes to separate from the muffler. You can see how this can be a major safety issue not just for owners but for others on the road if this were to happen at high speed. ...Published on 02-28-2013 11:10 PM
Very interesting race between a PP-Performance tuned M157 bi-turbo CLS63 AMG and a Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador. The run is from a very high speed starting at 150 km/h which is just under 100 miles per hour. The race goes until 180 miles per hour so the cars definitely both stretch their legs. The CLS63 AMG stats out slightly in front and gets the jump on the Aventador. The cars are very closely matched although the Aventador does appear to close the gap a bit. ...Published on 02-26-2013 10:50 PM
So yes the BMW i8 hybrid sports car is still coming and scheduled to be in showrooms by 2014. The final production ready car should be revealed toward the end of this year. For now, BMW is still testing and was doing some winter testing when EVO got a chance to take a spin in the car. The three-cylinder motor is still getting tuning but output is still expected to be in the 223 horsepower range for the 1.5 liter turbo motor and 354 when combined with the 131 horsepower electric motor. ...Published on 02-26-2013 09:31 PM
Well here it finally officially is, the APR 4.0 TFSI Audi twin turbo V8 tune. APR teased this upgrade with some great content including before and after drag strip results as well as a speedometer before and after tune overlay. Suffice it to say the tune makes a noticeable difference and on pump gas gets the car practically into the mid 11's in the 1/4 mile tune only. Now we have the full overlay of maps, dyno graphs, and pricing. ...Published on 02-26-2013 03:34 PM
A big congratulations is in order for PPF (Pure Performance Factory) of Sweden for obliterating the M54 horsepower record and setting a new and very high bar for the platform. How does 801 wheel horsepower on the M54B30 sound? Well to BimmerBoost it sounds absolutely amazing as this pushes the platform to a whole new level. For years now the M50,S50, and S54 motors have gotten all of the attention out of the M5X engine family and it is nice to see the M54 coming into its own. ...Published on 02-26-2013 03:03 PM
Very, very nice results here on an M157 bi-turbo W212 E63 AMG equipped only with a Eurocharged M157 tune. This tune is for a pump gas 91 octane setup so not a high octane race file. The car did however mix in some MS109 race gas which likely gave some timing benefit. 1/4 tank of 91 octane pump gas with 5 gallons of MS109. Filters are K&N just for full disclosure. The result at the Famoso drag strip in California? 11.378@128.26 on street tires. ...
