With support on this platform being held to minimum we decided to delight you guys with a set of custom three inch downpipes. They will be available with and without high flow cats for those interested. We already baselined the test mule late last year on a Dynojet at 467 to the wheels and took it to the track promptly afterwards knocking out a few 12.7 second 1/4 mile passes in our Florida humidity. ...Published on 03-14-2013 12:21 PM
Here it officially is and what many of you have been waiting for, the Weistec M157 bi-turbo upgrades including upgraded turbos, exhaust, and downpipes. Many of you have already seen the power figures as these upgrades powered the M157 to a new horsepower record with 727 at the wheels and also were seen in real world action at the recent No Fly Zone event showing impressive performance against stout competition including Wesitec's own Stage III M156 supercharger. ...Published on 03-13-2013 11:51 AM
A bit of a mismatch here on paper simply due to the nature of the two motors. The E60 M5 has a naturally aspirated V10 already at the 100 hp per liter mark from the factory. So, in a fairly high state of tune stock. The CTS-V has the LSA 6.2 liter V8 which is supercharged and it is no shock to anyone it will gain more power with bolt on's than the M5 thanks to being supercharged from the factory. Still, an interesting comparison to see between the two cars and what they can do with bolt on modifications. ...Published on 03-13-2013 10:50 AM
BenzBoost is still trying to wrap its head around this decision. It does not make a whole lot of sense but Mercedes-Benz seems determined to downsize their engines and for the 2015 model year there will be no E550 W212 E-Class sedan. To get a V8 in the E-Class sedan one will have to go for the E63 AMG with the M157 twin turbo V8. The C207 E-Class coupe however will retain the M278 V8 and continue to offer an E550 model in convertible and coupe forms. ...Published on 03-13-2013 10:30 AM
Some very impressive results here on a ProEFI standalone equipped 996 Turbo with the Saad Racing Turbo kit. At just 13 psi of boost on the stock internals the car put down 618 horsepower to the wheels and 597 rear wheel torque on a relatively mild tune. This is also with the stock airbox which they are planning to replace. At only 13 psi of boost it is safe to say there is a lot more power in this setup especially with race gas, an aggressive tune, and higher boost. ...Weistec Stage III+ 1000 horsepower W209 CLK63 AMG Black Series versus SP-Engineering 950R Nissan GTR

Great race here with two heavyweights slugging it out. The Weistec Stage III+ CLK63 AMG Black Series was beating pretty much everything at the No Fly Zone event with the lone exception of this modified GTR. Both cars are very heavily modified and put down somewhere in the 9XX wheel horsepower range. The GTR was running C16 fuel and 30 psi which results in 926 all wheel horsepower as measured on the SP-Engineering Mustang dyno. ...Published on 03-12-2013 04:40 PM
This is going to be a big year for BMW in the USA as many models are added and some are replaced. The current X5 will be getting replaced by its next generation F15 sibling as production will start in August. This was well known but another piece of exciting news is that an all new car will be available for sale as a 2014 model and that will be the F22 2-Series. This car is based on the F20 1-Series platform that is not available for sale in the USA due to the perceived notion that we Americans hate hatchbacks. ...Published on 03-12-2013 03:30 PM
Here is yet another 991 GT3 video and PorscheBoost is not complaining. This particular video details Andreas Preuninger (head of Porsche GT car development aka Mr. GT3) discussing the features of the car at Geneva during its debut. He states the development project and budget was four times larger than any of the previous GT3 cars. Also that the new PDK gearbox allows one as much control as a traditional manual transmission allows. ...Published on 03-12-2013 09:40 AM
Just in case you thought MotorTrend's very quick numbers for the 2013 Audi S8 were a fluke here is Car and Driver to back them up with similar figures. Car and Driver tested the car at 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds at a 118 mile per hour trap speed. MotorTrend basically mirrored these numbers with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and the 1/4 mile measured at 11.8@118.3. Pretty impressive for a 4620 pound all wheel drive luxury sedan, eh? ...Published on 03-12-2013 09:13 AM
Here is a review of the updated SLS for 2013 which is now known as the SLS GT. The updated SLS gets a horsepower bump to 583 horsepower along with a revised suspension and transmission programming. These changes are good enough for a 5 second improvement around the Nurburgring bringing the laptime down to a very impressive 7:30. The car seems to be significantly lighter as well somehow as Car and Driver states the curb weight is 3,573 pounds. ...Published on 03-12-2013 08:00 AM
The advanced design and sleek features of the Active Autowerke Supercharger System include a front mount air-to-air intercooler system with a separate oil cooler for the supercharger unit’s independent oil system. The Active Autowerke Supercharger Plenum replaces the factory air box and is designed to have an OEM-type look with custom finishes available at the customer’s request. The Active Autowerke Supercharger Plenum has been designed with eight high-flow velocity stacks, and large three inch intercooler piping to supply cooled air. ...Published on 03-11-2013 10:11 PM
The 2.0 TSI responds well to tunes, this is common knowledge. GIAC is intent on pushing a K04 turbo upgraded 2.0 TSI even further with their new "Extreme" K04 file that they are working on. This teaser video below shows a GTI equipped with the new aggressive K04 tune on the dyno. So what are the numbers? Unfortunately, we get no dyno numbers which is disappointing. What we are provided though is a reading of the boost gauge. ...Published on 03-11-2013 08:51 PM
The KTM X-Bow only weighs 1700 pounds and with 240 horsepower from a 2.0 liter turbocharged VW Group four-cylinder it definitely offers a nice power to weight. KTM decided to up the ante with the 2013 X-Bow GT revealed in Geneva with 285 horsepower from the 2.0 liter motor but will also give buyers the option of the TT-RS 2.5 TFSI powerplant with 360 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. KTM is also testing a dual clutch transmission with this motor (the X-Bow is currently manual only). ...Published on 03-11-2013 04:41 PM
The C6 Z06 in stock form is a strong car as we all know. It puts out more power to the wheels (~450 versus ~420 for the S85) and also has more torque in a much lighter body. So, it's damn strong. This C6 Z06 is going up a bolt on and tuned M6 though which should be pretty strong namely up top. BimmerBoost has viewed previous bolt on M6 versus stock Z06 videos and the tuned M6's tend to edge it out up top. ...Published on 03-11-2013 04:20 PM
The P31 package makes a pretty big difference. A tune on a standard C63 AMG makes a pretty big difference. So how do they both stack up versus each other? Well, the video below illustrates that comparison very well. The camera car is a brand new 2013 C63 AMG with the P31 option (more power, more aggressive tune, forged internals) that is completely stock with only 1000 miles on the clock. The red 2009 C63 sedan has a tune, resonator/cat delete, and filters. ...Published on 03-09-2013 04:11 AM
The BMW 650i Gran Coupe has the updated N63tu motor which offers 445 horsepower, 45 horsepower more than the standard N63 twin turbo 4.4 liter direct injected V8. Now, a 109.4 mile per hour trap speed is not all that bad but not really all that good for 445 horsepower either. The 13.1 elapsed time is fairly slow though. Especially when compared to the competition, say the Audi S7, which in stock form is capable of almost a full second faster time at 12.2@112.42. ...Published on 03-09-2013 01:41 AM
Here is the new 2013 Audi R8 LMS Ultra which Audi unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show. The new R8 LMS Ultra features design elements from the new facelifted R8 road car namely the updated front and rear lights. Beyond just styling changes the new race car also gets new aerodynamics including changes to the front, rear, and also the underbody. There also is a very large new wing designed obviously to help with stability. ...Published on 03-07-2013 11:00 PM
Porsche neuters the Boxster. Say what you want about how great the 911 is but Porsche protects their icon at the expense of Boxster and Cayman. There really is no reason a Boxster can not have more power than it does other than the fact it would stomp the equivalent 911, say the Carrera, hard. The proof is in the Cayman having the exact same 3.4 liter motor as the 991 Carrera but detuned specifically to protect the 911 (and its owner's ego). ...Published on 03-07-2013 10:24 PM
Oh my, now this is some serious work form Carlsson. No simple body kit and wheels, oh no, this is serious business. Say hello to what Carlsson calls the SLK340 Judd designed to be a hill climb car. And climb hills it will with its 1,720 pound curb weight (not a typo) and a 3.4 liter V8 stuffed under the hood. Carlsson claims 610 horsepower for this 3.4 liter V8. It was built by Judd and apparently this power is naturally aspirated which is incredible. ...Published on 03-07-2013 08:51 PM
Well big surprise here. Some young idiot in a 335 ran into an E92 M3 on the street and wanted to play. The problem? They are on tight twisty roads in a residential neighborhood. Hmm, I wonder what could possibly go wrong? You know from the very beginning of the video when the guy in the 335 states "It's either slow or fast" the type of mentality you are dealing with here. Probably should have gone with slow, eh buddy? ...
