With the recent official reveal of the F32 4-Series coupe it follows that naturally the F33 Convertible model will follow. This rendering is well done and the car definitely looks good with the top dropped. The artist got the rear correct along with the wheels, exhaust, diffuser, basically everything. It would be nice to see the car from a front angle as well but overall well done. Expect the F33 to start production 4 months after the F32 according to the leaked production chart. Additionally, do not expect it to have any 'xi' all wheel drive variants at least not this year.1 replies | 90 view(s)

Various tuners have been cracking the new code and AWE-Tuning is now able to offer their Stage II package for what is referred to as the B8.5 S4. This tune and pulley package is only available for the S-Tronic dual clutch transmission cars at the moment and they do have a 6-speed manual in testing for which the package should be released for shortly after. Gains are shown below but unfortunately AWE-Tuning just provides a crank graph. Come on AWE, really? We want our numbers at the wheels. Also, without all the peak figures listed on the graph it's somewhat difficult to see what each Stage makes over stock. The graph shows the difference (on 93 octane) between stock, Stage I, and Stage II with an exhaust, intake, downpipe, and GIAC tune. Stage II is stated to make an additional 31 horsepower and 42 pound-feet of torque at the crank over Stage I. Good results but please present them better next time so we can see the exact numbers at the wheels for ourselves without having to make an educated estimate. Hardware is more dealing with bracket design, if the plenum can hold the boost, pipe routing. Then you have the skill of understanding the smaller details in the design, pressure drop vs temperature control in intercoolers, intake design, equal distribution of air across cylinders etc etc. To make a basic supercharger kit is not at all difficult. You just need to make sure the hardware can handle the boost and do a half decent job at cooling. Tuning is a completely different ball game altogether. Once the hardware is understood the tuning follows. The tuning for some is the really hard part. Basic essentials such as incorrect fuel calibration and valve overlap with boosted setups is badly misunderstood. Too many cases of 'let the knock sensors sort the ignition out' and the '02 sensors sort the PT fuel out'.24 replies | 247 view(s)
